Eels re-sign Isaac De Gois

The Parramatta Eels have today announced the re-signing of Isaac De Gois for a further two years until the end of the 2018 season.

Isaac joined the Eels midway through 2014 and brings over 223 games worth of NRL experience. Isaac has been a key contributor to the team and will play his 50th game for the Club on Monday night.

Head Coach Brad Arthur said the retention of Isaac would strengthen the Parramatta roster. It also allows Isaac to continue his valuable mentoring role to younger members of the squad, such as Kaysa Pritchard.

“Isaac has been a key leader for our team this season and I am pleased that he will be remaining with our squad until the end of 2018,” Arthur said.

“With the retention of a number of players for 2017 our squad is shaping up well for next season."

Isaac is the fourth re-signing this week for the Eels following on from Corey Norman, Danny Wicks and Kenny Edwards.

  • I hope he took a pay cut then

    • He was originally offered 100K per season which he knocked back.  I suspect he might be on around 120-130K per season which is very low for a starting hooker.  The only other starting hooker I know earning less in the NRL is Nathan Friend who is on the base 85K.

  • I'd say we got him to sign for a good price.

Can't deny that since he came here mid season he's always put in and for his age he put some of the younger hookers to shame.

Happy to have him, esp as a mentor.
  • Hard to be excited by this one. The bloke gives his all but doesn't offer any spark. I trust BA and know he must have a plan but it's hard to understand what it might be.
  • Yeh hopefully we got him for $10 or less.

    • Agree he is one tough work horse- but that's why we need Seggy
  • I know a lot of one eyed won't get to excited about Isaac, but me I'm rapped great depth and again it's proof that put your head down grind and Fcuking hard work pays off....congrats De Gois......
    • I agree Fat Guy. What we demonstrated this year was a culture of toughness and resilience despite the circumstance. Isaac was always in the front of the queue when those qualities were required.
  • It's disappointing to read some of the negative comments directed at IDG signing on again. The guy is still a competitor that is a decent squad member that if called up does a job and does it well. Has he been signed as our starting 9 for next year???...time will tell but I believe we need at the very least 3 competent hookers in the squad and at the moment as of now we only have two and he is worthy of a squad position.
    • I'd say as it stands we don't have a dummy half worthy of first grade next season,  most clubs have one or at least two better dummy halves options then we have so far for 2017.

Yeah we shouldn't be negative because we have signed an over the hill 32 yr old to another two year contract, because he tries really hard and he tackles well.  Lets bring back Matt Keating then.........
