  • This unravels some concerns that the women's game is leeching off the men's game & siphoning money out of it. Baby sister is starting to get traction & walk a little more independently. The NRLW has a while to go until it's a part of our psyche, and mine, but good luck girls.

PS: Without TV deals the men's game is gone. Via it the NRL effectively pays for the players' contracts, the salary cap. So, the perception of the game (even PR treatment of the women's game), including the "perception" of naughty players such as Curtis Scott (no fault stand-downs), has commerical undertones and consequences.

      • Yeah, Brissy, good on em. I hope the women's game continues to grow & improve. Personally, it isn't yet etched into my psyche. So, I might watch highlight reels of the women's game once in a blue moon, & it's only natural it's unfairly compared to the men's game.

Like other women's sports, or social changes, they take time (sometimes generational) to accept it without any passing thoughts or concerns. Just the way we're wired I'm guessing (back to nature v nurture arguments).

PS: I saw some old 80s replays and the Eels' female cheerleaders (not unhappy we never had many male cheerleaders) and recalled why we liked them so much. lol

    • For now

  • I think we have Wiz to thank for this.

  • The most surprising thing is that Buzz Rothfield wrote a positive article about the Eels. Wonders will never cease.

  • This is excellent news, let the this version of the game stand on its own, if it is good to watch and people like it it will gather a following on its own. Which is seems it has so wonderful news for Parramatta and the NRL.

  • Let's see how long this lasts.....

Coporate dollars only keep coming in as long as interest remains, as soon as tv ratings and interest dies, then the mens game will be the ones propping it up. It happens in 99% of sports....Guaranteed.

    • Frank, people are starting to ask when was the last time you got something right that you guaranteed.

The question you need to answer is "what is the benefit of you being right"? are you flexible to change your mind, if not than you really offer nothing by your opinion.

      • I've been right more times than you've posted on here old man....

As for being able to concede that I'm wrong, no issues if I'm wrong, but once again I'm not in this instance.
And to what benefit? Just like being right....

    • Yep, the NBA has been propping up the WNBA for 25 years and it still loses money hand over fist.

"Warriors — highest completions, lowest error count in the comp.
Us — Polar opposite, overall. 4th worst for completions. 4th worst for errors and ball handling. It's cost us in the grind, and a few wins.

"Yep, they won 10 / 13 to start the season. Were Second. Since then, they've struggled won 4 / 9.  Clinging on to fourth but vulnerable.
Losing Metcalf/ Barnett seems to have hit. They were also a better team with Walker even if Erin Clark has…"
