Eels may wecome back Mateo

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/08/19/2660530.htmI'm pretty confident he'll be back on Friday.Anderson says if Mateo returns, he will take on a new role supporting full-back Jarryd Hayne."The challenge for Feleti is he's going to be a supporting, contributory, member of the team," Anderson said."Jarryd is basically the franchise player if you want a tag on it, the go-to man, whereas maybe in the last 18 months it's been Feleti who's been the go-to man."So if Feleti is keen to play a contributory role to the team, then we're even more challenging to play against."

  • Seriously how dangerous are we going to be with the two of them in the side! Having Feleti there will really ensure teams just can't overmark Jarryd because if they do we just throw it the other side to Feleti. I seriously believe we're going to be unstoppable.
    • Seriously
      • Seriously.
        • Seriously 10.
  • I hope we smash the tigers, Feleti is odds on to play, you just cant leave a play of his calibre out.
    • everyone said that last week too
  • I think this par gives a lot away though

"So if Feleti is keen to play a contributory role to the team, then we're even more challenging to play against."

Basically I take from this that Anderson is concerned about having too many playmakers and also about him potentially trying to overplay his hand, which I agree are valid concerns. But as long as he can get them working as a unit, watch out.
  • I think we've got all the momentum at the moment. We remind me of the Tigers in 2005 and the Cowboys in 2004 - both teams left their runs late and had a big impact on the finals series
  • At the moment Lowrie is starting to be the ball player 2nd in from Luke Burt, you could slot Mateo in there instead and shift Lowrie to the middle of the park in an interchange with Galuvao. Mateo would need to be as good defensively as Lowrie is to make this work. On the other side Hayne could chime in to be the link man to Reddy/Grothe.
  • hmmm very interesting interview with Ando. From it it's obvious that Mateo and KK are close but not quite there yet in terms of sharpness/timing, he says they are both still a chance, however I think he will give them the run at Wenty on the weekend. If they both play well, then i don't think that he can ignore them anymore. He stated " you put your best 17 on the paddock".
