Shouldn't be a surprised, what is O'Neill going to say? "We wanted him but now we don't so we will pull the contract". No they will honour his deal in some way, as O'Neill says he will be valuable on and off the field, Hodgson will be at the club next year but does not mean he will play. He will be coaching at the club either in 2023 or 2025 when his deal runs out, but if Parramatta decide to go into 2023 with Hodgson and Rein it will be a mistake and i would monitor the Verrills situation closely as well Robson to see if we could pounce on them and work something out with Hodgson and also the Mahoney deal is still not yet registered if anything, no matter how slightest the chances are, happens Parramatta should be prepared to jump in that scenario.
There are other options and this injury could assist us to achieve that, this article showed O'Neill saying the professional things but i would not take this as the club is not the slightest concerned with his knee and if another hooker comes available they wouldn't consider it, they would. Consider, not definately sign, consider.

Until reed is ratified I'm still holding out hope
I would offer him an extra 100k just to stick it to Gould and the bulldogs
What a great story it would be
I'm of the opinion that Reed's mind is made up. No backflip.
Hope I'm wrong.
Agree RAM, but also hope to be wrong.
Again guys it's not a backflip that i am saying, the deal is not done through the NRL, it will be depending on Thompson and Flanagan etc. But if he does stay hypothetically sakes it's not him backflipping.
It is not him going "You know what i don't want to go" and then stay, if that is to happen it will be the NRL saying no and the deal struggles to get through and Reed and Kikau have to go through negotiations again.
Reed is gone, players won't go back on their word, even if they regret it.
My assumption on Reed's deal not being finalised has something to do with Kyle Flanagan and trying to get rid of him before his contract is up.
That's why Barrett is refusing to play him, even if he is the best halfback they have. They want him gone and are trying to manage him out so Reed gets what's left of Flanagans contract. Problem is that he's still there.
A lot more than that, Thompson and Allan are others, but they had issues and signed Sutton and still need to sign Dufty and Vaughan and now looking at Brooks apparently, these TPA's are working well for them.
Flangan is due 500k, how much do they need to fork out? you would think half or more as nobody other than maybe super league would want him.
I wonder with the next 2 months schedule will Barrett survive it? Rumours were he was set to get 10 rounds to prove his worth, he could be 2 from 10, it is a disasterous schedule and they havent looked overly good at the moment.
Imagine if Shane Flanagan went to Canterbury ahahaha, that would be amazing to see him keep Kyle and force him to be their 7 with Burton, Bulldogs will continue to be average.
Brooks should be a hooker, he's been playing out of position. Strong front on defender with a great kicking game , strong runner who would benefit immensely without the responsibility of running the side while still getting his hands on the ball a lot.
Reeds word isnt the issue. Cap shenanigans is the issue or it would have been registered months ago.
If they dont have the cap space the contract is void. Its not just Reed its Kikau as well.
And Sutton, as Mutts said they are still free agents Dolphins would be circling too.
100% Reed has signed and is committed that's not the issue, it is what the NRL think and if it becomes a problem then Kikau and Reed may think differently
I know he is gone and I am really just saying it tongue in cheek
I would just love to stick it to Gould and the dogs
As far as players going back on their word
