GALVIN SHOCKS EELS

Lachlan Galvin’s decision to join Canterbury has gone down like a lead balloon with Sydney rivals the Eels.

Sport Confidential can reveal Parramatta bosses were supremely confident of securing Galvin and believed they had their man before being ambushed by the Bulldogs.

It is understood the Eels had tabled a multi-year, $1 million-a-season deal for Galvin to partner Mitchell Moses at the Parramatta scrumbase next year.

But the Wests Tigers young gun shocked the Eels by taking less to go to the Bulldogs.

Galvin’s management have been criticised for allegedly brainwashing the teenager but the 19-year-old made the call to reject Parramatta of his own volition.

  • I'm glad we didn't sign him, especially for that money

  • Reported by a few other outlets that we would not budge above 850

  • The people wishing this to be just talk, have obviously forgotten we have form in this area.  It does sound nice to optimistic that we stood firm at 800k , history says 1mil is more the case

The other case may be our own club leaked the million sum to let the fans know they had a serious crack, just like the leaked Wayne Bennett thing.,

    • Good positive response Wiz, don't let those bastards get away with anything....I'm glad you always look on the brightside!

Just a matter of interest can you define the "form", so they fcuked up with Bennett, just about everything being fcuked up is working in our favour......Bennett included.

PS He was never coming to Parra...but you knew that remember!

      • I love it when you jump on my posts unbeknownst to yourself you've back up my point.  No , he was never coming to Parra , so why did they embaress themselves by telling us all how ridiculously shit they are at their jobs ?  In someone's head they leaked it thinking they'd show us how big they aimed , when in actual fact we all just got second hand embarrassment for them.

Now I would not be one bit surprised if they went at a million. It's more their style if you look at their contracts over the past half decade .

Leaking such a big offer may have seemed like we'd all give them the pass mark for missing as they went big. Where in reality everyone just wants to believe we are this power club that offer what we believe to be the right price and then pull the " take it or leave it " staunch approach.

I just find it funny how people scoff at the suggestion we made this huge offer may, when we are a club in a poor position, is known for paying massive overs , and still have ethe same guys making the offers that signed off on all the silly contracts we've had in play.

"so why did they embaress themselves by telling us all how ridiculously shit they are at their jobs ?"

Why are you asking me that?..... I was "unbeknownst"..... what I would say is that you are wrong in your judgement/opinion of showing the 1 million.

    • Well said Wiz, finally a measured post.

We have  too many drama queens on this site..

      • Some people have spent so many hours defending guys like MON and Co, they just need to feel like they were justified. No matter how many examples of shoddy management gets highlighted mate. History says there's more chance of us having offered overs than their is unders. These clowns needed a big signing announcement to keep the fans fed.  If we did fferna million it'd be smart to release it actually as it shines a light on a Canterbury.  People scratching their heads wondering about the paper bags.

        • How do you measure a post Micky?

"The league needs to come down heavier for dangerous play. The players will soon learn that it's not worth the risk. Yes we all want to see a good tough game of RL, but not if it impacts players longterm health."
