Eels know what to expect for next time

Parramatta will have a much better understanding of what to expect should they find themselves in a grand final again, Matt Keating has told The Parramatta Advertiser. He said the match was unlike any he had played before - "it's 80 minutes, full on". “The contact, the speed of the play the ball, everything like that,” Keating was quoted as saying. “You can’t clock off for that second otherwise you get punished, and there were some phases where we did. “We’ve got a few young boys here who will know what the whole week is about as well as the game. That will be a huge plus for us, because I think it was a huge plus for Melbourne. FULL STORY HERE: http://parramatta-advertiser.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/now-we-know-just-what-it-takes-to-win/

  • I really can't understand how the "GF experience" point keeps coming up. The game against the dogs had just as much pressure surrounding it, and would have given us the same experience as a GF.
I say the opposite: two months of continuous sudden-death pressure footy could have worn us out.

And if anything, we will have the unwanted weight of expectation next year. The mental pressure will be far tougher then.
  • Some very good points Poida97!!

The eels have played 2 months of Grand Finals and IMO with all but one game to the Dragons they played 2 months of just the most freakish sublime football ever!! Its unfortunate that we couldnt bring it together on the day that mattered most!!

At the end of the day the boys over-achieved from where they were sitting 5 months ago, now the season has finished the boys have learnt many valuable lessons

1/They believe in themselves and in each other (after 2-3 months of playing footy like they did it was no Fluke)
2/They have Hunger and Passion for their team mates and their Club
3/ They respect the coach they didnt respect Hagan!
4/ They know the feeling of what its like to lose a G/F

Next year is another year and the boys have to learn how to rise up and live up to expectations now!!!
  • I think if they do ok during the season and time their run to peak condition just right, no team will come near them.. All about timing, and that is what Bellamy and his assistants get very right!

"I have said already that if we miss out on Galvin I am not too annoyed, as I want us to focus elsewhere and see what we have in the juniours. BUT.....
Ryles seems to really want him. Like really really want him. That's enough for me for now. "
