Eels hand further fine to Dylan Brown

NRL 2023: Parramatta Eels hand Dylan Brown further $20k fine after pleading guilty to sexual touching charges

Eels star Dylan Brown has accepted his NRL ban after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual touching, but has been whacked with an extra punishment from Parramatta.

This masthead understands that Brown will be fined at least $20,000 by the Eels, having pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual touching in a Sydney court last week.

Brown had already been handed a long ban and a $40,000 fine – half of which was suspended – by the NRL after being charged by police following a boozy night out in Sydney’s eastern suburbs last month.

The Eels No.6 is due to return to the field in the run up to the finals but in the short term will be expected to undergo education as part of his rehabilitation.

Brown had five business days to respond to the NRL sanctions and it is understood the deadline passed on Monday afternoon, with the Kiwi international accepting the penalties from head office.

Brown is due to make his comeback for the Eels in their round 23 game against St George Illawarra, having already served three games on the sidelines when the NRL handed down their sanctions.

  • So now it's a 60k fine all up and 7 weeks on the sidelines plus 18 months community service plus some rehab?

    • $60k fine with $20k suspended.

  • Good on the club for this. A professional athlete on the piss with 20 drinks in his system , its just not on, especially when the group was told to lay low.

    • Agree - club needs to do what it can to support DB not doing things that will stuff up his performance on the field

    • I seriously don't get how dumb NRL playes are. If he wanted to have a bender, do it at home. Like the whole Jarryd Hayne debacle. Why go to some rando's place for a quick root when he could easily afford a high end escort?

    • I agree Chief, it was disgusting behaviour, as a woman I think he should have got me and as an eels supporter I still think he deserved a bigger fine and suspension had it been me or one of my daughters I would have been pushing with the police for sterner action, hopefully this will help him to see the light and not head any further down the Jared Hayne path.

      • Got me no, i typed more what a spell check error that was.

  • Was footage of the alleged incident confirmed? or He said she said?

      • harsh penalty afaik. Poor judgement on his behalf, fair to say that it wouldnt have proceeded to court if it was Joe Average that did it.

Currans actions were worse and his punishment was ridiculous.
