Doubt the link will work but the article is in in the subscribers only section of the DT. The only bit that is on the papers site other than the headline is the following
THE Parramatta Eels are being investigated over whether they used members’ money as part of a loss-making company that the NRL alleges was set up to thwart its salary cap.
A rough guess would suggest that's a follow on from yesterdays stuff about the Leagues club financial loss. So, the DT is trying to likely link the two together into another allegation of illegal dealings
I would not doubt it in the least that the NRL are about to release their findings either on Monday or Tuesday. At least that aspect may be a pressure releasing valve, note maybe.
One thing with the media stuff such as this, & based only on presumption as its not available to non subscribers of my thoughts above, is once the NRL's decision is handed down, the club should seriously look at using any so called slush funds to look into taking what ever legal avenues may be available to take on the media & their reporting during the whole time since the start of this drama.
Sooner the EGM comes the better.
