Eels consider play for Titans halfback Tyrone Roberts

Parramatta are considering making a play for Gold Coast halfback Tyrone Roberts as a replacement for former departed skipper Kieran Foran.Parramatta have significant cash to spend on talent after missing out on the signature of Jarryd Hayne. While there are few playmaking options on the open market, the Eels are ready to pounce should one become available. Their first preference is Adam Reynolds, although South Sydney are unlikely to release the NSW No.7 unless a suitable replacement can be found.Having signed Hayne, it's unlikely the Gold Coast can afford to carry three top-line halves on their books. The pairing of Ash Taylor and Roberts has been a revelation for the Titans this year and is one of the main reasons for their surge towards the finals. Another promising playmaker, Kane Elgey, has been sidelined all season with a serious knee injury, but is also under contract. One of the trio is likely to be squeezed out and Roberts is the man most likely to depart. The 25-year-old showed glimpses of his potential during his five seasons at Newcastle, but his best and most consistent football has followed his move to the holiday strip.Wanted man: Tyrone Roberts.Wanted man: Tyrone Roberts. • Eels considering every player in the NRL either current, past or future.
    • Exactly Muttman. Proz didn't even bother with trying to make it sound believable. He must have needed to write an article and just had to make up bullshit.
  • He wasn't much good today. Poor choices I thought
  • He cost them the game even possibly a finals spot with that ridiculous chip to hayne
  • No no no
  • Roberts will never steer us to a premiership, more like a wooden spoon
  • Roberts will just be the first of another 25 halves that we're linked to this off-season.

  • Roberts is shithouse.

  • We already had one Roberts here not too far back.
  • His manager rang Max and Max said let me think about it.
