The Eels have snatched promising hooker Ryley Smith from arch rivals Penrith.
Smith is a rare breed - he played for Australia at schoolboy level in both rugby league and cricket in 2020-21 - a feat not achieved by any sportsman since Souths star Bronko Djura in the early 1980s.
A talented dummy-half, 20-year-old Smith has been given a second tier contract by the Eels but will be one to watch over the next couple of seasons.

If ever there was a young player absolutely destined to wear the Eels No 9, it's Matthew Arthur.
