Eels Chances Now?

After the Eels made the top 4 which is a 1st for coach Brad Arthur since he's been at the helm of the Eels ( My mistake - Thanks for correcting me LB - Eels ran 4th in 2017 and 3rd ? In 2020) Even genuises make mistakes. )  it's looking more dire of going any further in the final series after their loss to the Panthers last Friday evening.

It was really a great opportunity for Brad Arthur's coached Eels to get a well needed week off but instead of picking a good strong bench the coach in his wisdom or lack of made the wrong selections which I believe contributed to the Eels loss against Penrith. Combining that with the obvious loss of Moses due to concussion. Yet the Eels were only down by 5 points when Moses went off. The correct bench players would have made a huge difference and could have kept the Eels in the game.

Now the Eels face an even larger task in firstly beating a rejuvenated Canberra Raiders team who although at times erratic have a good strong physical team with strike power. If the Eels do happen to overcome a strong Raiders team they have an even more enormous almost impossible meeting with the Cowboys in Townsville in extreme hot/humid weather with a no doubt a heavily 1 sided Cowboys fan base. I cannot personally see the Eels beating the Raiders let alone the Cowboys in Townsville. In my in opinion 2022 to has been a very disappointing year for the Eels and in particular the fans. This year to was a great opportunity to break the 36 year Eels premiership drought but in my opinion it all comes back to extremely poor coaching including the selection of the players and the recruitment. Another 2 more years of this might be a hard pill to swallow but there aren't many options available. It would be nice to see the Eels win another premiership before I pass on but ?

  • If this idiot doesn't pick a bench of:

    14.Carty 15.Matterson 16.N.Brown 17. Kaufusi

    He shouldn't be coaching NRL.

He's crippling our chances picking Maka and Arthur . Brown and Carty would be deadly coming on against tired forwards. Someone start a petition FFS.

    • What about Paul Gallen arguing with Brohman who said JA shouldn't be there, Gal said who else do you pick, Brohman said Cartwright and Gallen went on a tangent saying he is not defending him but there is nobody else, Cartwright is not the answer.

      Ummmmm really Gal?

      • Glad someone stood up to Gallen and spoke the truth

      • Gal has always been a peanut just confirms it when he says JA should be in the team

    • He is an idiot and doesn't care about the strengths and best chances of the team. Instead the idiot keeps picking his useless son who will never play in any other nrl team unless he's coach there.

He's a stubborn idiot that should be sacked.

    • Wisdom is not so easily camouflaged amongst your ramblings Sneaky Eel.

I cant see BA doing anything of the sort????   Too much common sense Sneaky.

  • We can beat the raiders and cows, the latter being quite overrated imo.

    • Agree Snakey but the temperature and crowd will make a huge advantage to the cowboys and my faith in Brad Arthur's coaching abilities is below zero

    • We'll beat the Raiders, but I can't see us beating the Cowboys after they have a week of and playing them up there. It will need something special or a bit of luck.
