Eels call General Meeting

IT is what Parramatta chairman Max Donnelly labels as the final piece of the Eels puzzle to ensure their off-field stability. Donnelly has called an general meeting of the Parramatta Leagues Club to consider and approve a new constitution on September 13. It includes a raft of changes to the governance of Parramatta, as the club looks to move on from their horror 2016.Some of the changes include;1) A Nominations Committee being put in place to review candidates2) Directors to have three-year terms of office with one third of Directors retiring each year over the three year cycle. Retiring Directors may be eligible for reappointment. The maximum period a Director may hold office will be nine years.3) A nomination will be automatically rejected if a negative finding against them has been made by the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority or Liquor & amp; Gaming NSW.One of the most controversial elements is that any person who has been a director of the PLC, PNRL or Parramatta District Rugby League at any time before 19 July 2016 will be ineligible to nominate.Donnelly said he expected some backlash.“The brief I’ve got is what happens in the past can’t be repeated,” Donnelly said. “The whole thrust of this constitutional change is to achieve that and set in place so that what’s happened in the past won’t happen again.“I am aware that there are some members, particularly members who have been directors in the past, aren’t pleased with these changes because in their individual cases they will be illegible to become directors.“There are some former directors will oppose and will probably try to rally votes against it. That’s their prerogative. I can’t deny them their right to object or any members’ right to object. I would like to think the overwhelming numbers of Parramatta members will support the changes but I need them at the meeting and voting.”Seven five per cent of members present agree to the one resolution. It will take place at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse with members able to vote at any time during the meeting.http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/teams/bulldogs/sport-confidential-how-will-jack-bird-cope-with-wayne-bennet-a-coach-who-is-big-on-respect/news-story/95e7e602b604c690753234406bc6480f

  • Get there and vote !!!
The former factions will try to rally the troops. Ray Hadley will undoubtedly have his say as well as a few choice journalists. Yes I'm looking at you Prozcenko.
These changes are paramount and the final piece in the puzzle. If we can approve these changes we will never ever face a future run by factionalism again.
  • Anybody trying to vote down any of this doesnt love the club and has hidden motives.

Eels supporters must vote to get this through.

    Well done Max.

  • LOLL God bless him, Mark Pigram if youre reading come back! ive missed you!

  • So you're telling me this has nothing to do with a major sponsor?
  • This has everything to do with good governance of our Parra footy club and I support it 100%.

Well done Max Donnelly, You have exceeded all expectations that I had hoped for and I had set the bar pretty high when you were initially appointed.

I've had the pleasure, and the pain, concerning Parramatta Footy Club since 1964. First as a wide eyed 12 year old kid on the hill at Cumberland Oval. Next as a junior player in the two of the local junior clubs. Third, as an adult playing a couple of seasons in A grade and the old second division competition. Fourth, as a kid who failed to get graded twice and successful once, (same year as John Kolc) only to be flicked before I played a grade game (the reason for my departure is and was irrelevant because if I had been any good, it wouldn't have been a good enough reason to flick me) My Fifth involvement with our beloved Parra was initially as a sponsor when Ron Hilditch was coach and continued under Brian Smiths coaching until 2000.

The only reason for mentioning these facts is because unlike some other people we know, think disgruntled media personality! The thought of spitting the dummy concerning my love and support as a fan, for this club never entered my mind. It's not the Mighty Eels fault that I wasn't good enough, but they sure are the reason that I still love this club and now, so do my kids and their kids, just as my mum and dad before us.

Please don't let the pain return to destroy our renewed hope through complacency. Stop any chance of the old guard from returning with their selfish divisive ambitions. How could anyone who has ever been a director in the past improve on where we have come and to where we are heading now under our current leadership from Max and his Board through Bernie and his administration to BA and his coaching staff right on down to our successful, entertaining footy teams?

Please support these changes to our constitution.

    Go Parra!

  • Shhhhh love and sit down, you're making a fool of yourself.

    • I agree with everything posted here, and will be proud to vote in the manner prescribed by Max.

  • Was wondering the same thing, Browny.

Maybe he's like Beetlejuice.... say his name three times and he'll appear.

"I'm not suggesting throwing Lorenzo or any other young player in there now, they aren't ready, my point is they still won't be ready for a start in 2027 either so are we going to sign another 1 year stop gap 6 for 2027?."

"Thanks KN/ EA. Just checking my gut feeling. Hopefully, he stays & makes good on his potential. I like his upside: footy nous, big body, kicking game, goal-kicker. Ain't many sixes offering all that. He's called by many in RU as a "Sua'ali'i clone…"

Slippery. replied to Eelawarra's discussion NRL LEGENDS EXPLAIN WHY THEY HATE BRETT KENNY

Brett Kenny is the reason I support the Eels. He was the most naturally gifted player I have ever seen. In my opinion Imortal status he is worthy of. However, what I find even more bizarre is the fact that Brett Kenny was not once named in the…"
