The Parramatta Eels hold the second best Top 8 win rate in the competition following their win against Premiership heavyweights the Brisbane Broncos.
The Eels have won 70% of matches against Top 8 sides this season, second only to Melbourne who have a 73% win rate.
The Blue and Gold sit ahead of the Roosters (67%) and Cronulla (60%). Of the other Top 8 contenders, they sit a long way ahead of St George (50%), Brisbane (44%), Cowboys (33%), Manly (30%) and Penrith (12%).
The Eels have also conceded just 16 points or less in their five game winning streak, an average of just 11.8 points per game, which is the best defensive effort in the NRL in that time period, with the Storm conceding 15.8 points per game in the same period, the Roosters 20, Cronulla 20.2 and the Broncos with 24.8 points per game.

Everyone is playing for one another and our sliding defence has been better as well
Even Moses defence has been a lot better
With bulldogs having no attack we shouldn't have any problems this week
We need to rack up a big score this week
Hope we do not play the Bulldogs game like the previous game, straight up the middle. If we play like we did against the Broncos and spread the ball, we should not have many issues
While "stats never lie" i believe we have had the benefit of playing some under strength top 8 teams - Cowboys, Storm and Dragons.
Also we got Manly and Dragons early in the season when their form was questionable.
Our performance against the Broncos on Friday Night was probably our best game in 4 years and i really hope its a turning point for us.
You can only play who is in front of you though and in the past 5 weeks we've continually found a way to win despite playing poorly in some of those games.
We played a Storms team that has one of the best forward packs in the game, a forward pack like no other. They also have some of the brightest up comers in the NRL
Dragons we played them again when their form was going okay, still beat them
We went into this season with only 1 real half, the other was a make shift, Manly had to recognised halves in round 1
Cowboys we beat and lost 1 to a similar team
Those close games that people speak off - Tigers are a good side when they switch on, they are heaps better than the scorelines usually show. They also tend to step it up a few gears when we play them. The Dogs are the same thing, they step up.
People also forget their was a few games (one V the Rabbitohs) when the Ref handed them 12 points, making the game look closer than it actually was.
I think we have been a solid team this year, and improving every week.
When they apologise for having their SOO players in I will apologise for beating them with their SOO players out
This just proves how difficult our draw has been this year. Well done to the squad and the coaching staff. Lets hope they can keep it up for the rest of the season.
I agree, its amazing how we've actually won some of these games. Whilst I've been one of the bigger critics of our performances as BA says we've found ways of winning games, where in the past we'd give up.
As you have pointed out previously a Win is a Win.
I always feel the Eels have an extra gear to give.
100% agree, if we play like we did against Brisbane, then we'll go deep in the finals. Storm to me are unbeatable. But on the back of Friday's game, a few teams in the top 8 probably don't want to play us in the first round.
Question is can we back it up this week? I still have my doubts....
Reminds me of the Raiders last season, timed their form perfectly going into September.
Very well said King Arthur We Trust.
