Eels best 17 for week 1

I think the backs are set with only the forwards line up and the bench up for grabs. We're looking pretty strong with only Mahoney out but Lussick more than holds his own.

The contentious positions are lane Matterson Khafusi Will Smith & Makatoa Penesini Opacic. A big game for Khafusi tomorrow could force his way onto the bench. I don't think Will gets in although a back up back is a good hedge bet.

It's a toss up between Kaufusi and Makatoa for the final bench spot. We'll see how they perform this week for the last bench spot. My team would be:

You might be right.

It's possible RCG plays of the bench with Papali starting.

I honestly feel we are a better team without matto and that's nothing against matto I just thing marata and Papali/Cartwright pose more questions in attack especially when it comes to line running marata makes the defence ask questions

  Exactly what i was going to say, with RCG not playing for a month I think he will start week 1 off the bench and go with Ice at 8. Matto was declining pretty hard in that team slump and wasn't there for the confidence booster last Saturday so I would be inclined not to play him at all.
