O'Neil has a couple of possible starters. I think they can be moneyball candidates.
I am sure there will be 1 probably 2 more signings.
A few players will be promoted from within as well. I believe Zac Cini ( rightly or wrongly) is being groomed to take Opacic's spot as the back up centre. Plus Sammy L will be another year older, so hopefully he naturally progresses.
I think there's a few areas that need more attention then centre at the moment. If there's an injury crisis Gutho, Simmonson, Dunster or Russell could all fill a hole.
I'm a little bit more worried about fullback, halfback, Hooker and 2nd row if Ice doesn't stay.
The rumours of Perham leaving highlight the need for a back up fullback and halfback even more.
We need Hands or Yates to step up next year, ready to take over from Hodgson in 2024 or 2025.
However, Ido like Matele and El-Zakham in cup for an edge backrow spot.
what you see of hands' selections in nsw cup, it seems he is being groomed as the 14, he has played a lot of hooker, in the halves and off the bench a lot. Haven't seen much of him and how he is progressing tho
If Melbourne win on Friday, i think we rest players next week, that is where i would be debuting Hands at 14. I would love to see some players given an opportunity; like Hands, El-Zakham, Russell.
Not sure about resting players yet. Might depend on other results. Lets assume Roosters & Rabbits win at least 1 of their remaining games to stay above 8th. If we can't make 4th, surely we would rather finish 5th to play Broncos or Raiders in a home final??
Loizou has been a disappointment for NSW Cup this year, debuted in NRL at 18 and didn't really develop in Cup to the point where he was in there week in week out. It is a shame as he seemed like one of the most talented of the group of juniors we had coming through with his ability to play practically anywhere in the backline.
Sean Russell to me is one of the best juniors we have, wish he was used more often to keep him around, even on the wing or even at centre. Then when Gutho goes, Russell will move to 1.
Just curious, do you go and watch most NSW cup games LB?
I've watched as much as i can, from televised and home games. When they are not televised or at CommBank i do not watch them.
I suspect Dunster and Russell will be called apon more next year I think Russell would be a handy centre. So I think they will promote from within hence why opiciac wasn't re-signed.
I also think some lower tier spending will happen we have upgrades Junior,Reg,Gutho,Matto and are trying to tie up Dylan Moses and Penisini so I dont think we have cap space to really sign anyone of note
I was about to say i think Russell would make a good centre, but so would Dunster in my opinion also. I think Russell would be nice on the wing, then take over at 1 once Gutho moves on.
