Now that was a team! Damn we had a good young team back then-if they were THAT good then, lets hope we're go one better...imagine of Hayne was in the 01 team, Parra would've won the GF IMO
Hodgson was pretty handy at fb. Not in Haynes class but he scored some brilliant trys that year.
Hayne would have been useless in the '01 team, I think he was only 13 years old then so he would have got completely smashed.

Yeah it was a great team, but in hindsight the Newcastle team was better.
I think the 2001 eels side was great at second phase play and, a bit like the second half of 2009 side, when it got on a roll it was unstoppable.
When I think about it I actually like out team this year more. especially our spine.
