EEL FOR LIFE

The Parramatta Eels are reportedly set to offer star halfback Mitchell Moses a new contract extension, which would see him remain in blue and gold until the end of the 2027 season.

According to SEN’s Michelle Bishop, Moses’ latest extension is set to be worth $1 million a season across five years.

“He turns 28 in September,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“He’s under contract for 2023 and looks set to pick up an option in his favour for 2024, but negotiations are underway for a new deal.

“It’d make him an Eel for life, taking him through until the end of 2027, which would just about be the rest of his career as he’d be 33 (by the end of the deal).

“Reports are floating around that the deal is worth around $5 million this deal, that’s $1 million a year all up.

“I know he bought a family house in the inner west, he obviously doesn’t want to move, he’s pretty happy.

“I can definitely see him becoming an Eel for life.”

Asserting himself as one of the best halfbacks in the competition, Andrew Voss believes that Moses has earned every penny of his latest extension.

“He is one of the better playmakers in the competition,” Voss said.

“Look at the Dragons without Ben Hunt, it’s tragic, he may not be the best seven or six in the comp but if you take him out of the side it’s a huge difference.

“That’s the same with Mitch Moses.”

  • I think he is worth it, some don't,  a good half-back is hard to find and even his harshest critics would have to admit he is a good half-back, sometimes great, sometimes he goes missing, but overall good.

  • Worth it. Obviously he's not the best halfback of all time but he's an nrl level halfback and they are actually super rare. Find a halfback and you're halfway to making a team.

  • Not worth it at all. Blokes worth 700k in my eyes for 3 years.

    • You offer 700k and you lose him, simple as that.

        • I don't disagree with your sentiment Frankie about what he has achieved, but the big deal is replacing him. This club doesn't exactly have a history of going out and snagging top line marquee players.

            • If I were the club I'd be moving heaven and earth to get Munster. A pipe dream I know...

              • Munster would be a big mistake! Take him out of the storm system, and the mentoring of Bellamy he would go backwards both on and off the field.

                • Carl, Munster absolutely ran riot against the games best in Origin. Average players don't do that. Regardless of him being quiet in game 2 , he was still by far their best player and in the top 5 on the paddock in a beaten side.

Munster is a great player. That shit he pulled against the Sharks earlier this year was shit I haven't seen since Hayne in 2009 . It was magic to watch and that's coming from someone who thinks he's a fuckwit.  You can't deny the natural talent he has and his drive to win at all costs.

                  • Wiz, don't get me wrong I think he is a great talent in the right structured environment. He has that d/head element in him a'la Brandon Smith that almost requires a father figure type like a Bellamy/Bennett.
