The absolute shit stain on Brad Arthur's coaching career. No matter what individual we've put on the edge they've all had troubles jamming in and the bald peanut has not been able to fix it .
George Jennings , Semi , Sivo , Ferguson , Waqa Blake , Dunster , Russell .. it doesn't matter . The system breaks and none of them have a clue how to defend in it . In our better seasons or our worst seasons .. he hasn't been able to fix the edges. Teams with good halves carve us up , teams with shit halves cause problems . We can be beaten through the hands , simple wide cut out passes , in the air .. our wingers and inside defence don't work together . It is seriously below Ron Massey Cup standard edge defence. We can be attacked on the edge from anywhere on the field but inside our 10 metres we will be scrambling for our lives twice a set at least. It's unacceptable.
Sivo has been horrendous but this last night from Russell might take the cake . Any one making this decision in this circumstance isn't an NRL level player, and any NRL coach who hasn't solved this shit he's been doing for weeks isn't an NRL level coach. Absolute free passage to the line .. what is he thinking here ? To make it worse Teddy took the wrong option and Russell still couldn't stop what he came in to do. Absolute amateur hour . Russell's positioning has been diabolical.

Spot on mate. No matter who's been involved on the wing they've always jammed in as to the bush coaching strategy. Souths have taken advantage of this for years and yet, the coaching staff still can't fix the issues. Its just a joke. Sometimes you just have to laugh
Mate it's so bad . We have 5 defender's on 3 attackers here and Russell takes a woeful option. Just not even close to first grade standard. Hes not working with the inside players at all if that's the system BA is coaching than its a complete fail ... if its not than Fark Russell off for going out on his own and stuffing it up. Ridiculous .
That was from a scrum mate . Was just a u8s level decision.
He flew in on a diagonal angle because he wanted to jam Teddy as he caught the ball while the whole inside were pushing out . There is no way that is allowed in a decent system.
He got there late but still causes Teddy to hesitate on the pass and dummy when a simple pass woulda got his winger in the corner. Then Russell bounced off while the rest of the inside had overrun trying to cover his ass out wide. If BA is allowing that to happen within his system he should be out the door now .
Russell is that far off being a first grader. Some of his positional play the last few weeks has been woeful. Ive seen some better watching my son at u6's.
Love Muscle is part of the Rhinos crew Snottie... his place is assured regardless of ability or performance.
And that decision of his there wasn't a poor decision... it was about 10 levels below a poor decision. Enough to say mate, you need a spell... but even if we had other options, he'd likely stay put. It's the BA way...
100%
But who is telling all our wingers during the 10years BA has been coach to jam and fly in off their wings?
Who and why can't itnve fixed - I'll tell you why, its the coaches tactics the players are adhering to. BA has NFI.
he has been a play with whats in front of you, mindfull ess type of coach. Doesn't seem to be bothered with watching a video, or even preparing the team for set plays or setting up a system defensively
You are so right
And some people on here have been calling for Russell to be our fullback.
His positional play and awareness on the wing is diabolical.
Could you imagine this cluster fuck at fullback.
He's hopless. Not a first graders asshole.
It's not to say he never will be and he has nothing going for him he's just not at or close to NRL level at the moment. A lot of coaching and work needs to go into him - it doesn't appear or coach wants much more out of his wingers than running hard straight at blokes and everyone else scrambling based on their defensive decisions.
