Dylan Brown, when and if he re-signs.

With news of the Salary Cap sky rocketing expectations to a proposed $10.5 million, questions will be asked how much money will players off contract recieve. Dylan Brown and Mitchell Moses are two players with a microscope on them and rightfully so, they are the two halves, the bench mark of our side or in that case any side. Dylan Brown, coming into his own as a superstar, will demand big money. Reports are he is on anywhere between 500-700k, more towards 500k a year mark. With his age, position and experience, even perhaps with a World Cup with NZ also, his price will go to 700k minimum.

Though i think there are a few things in favour of us for Brown, first thing is his family live here, they live with him or he lives with them around Parramatta. Secondly, he was an Eels junior, he loves the club. 2019, after his debut, he did mention possibility of chasing some coin but he was 18 at the time, skies the limit. Injuries and form have brought him back down to reality at the moment. Brown has also shown this year though he is one of the best five-eighths in the comp, he still lacks that control factor to run a team. If he goes to a club like say NZ Warriors, they will look to him to be the 'man' the 'face' where he is better when control and organisation is placed elsewhere so he can come in and out of games where he pleases. Brown is a player that can deliver a deadly short ball and short kick but can also run, he is better with room and playing eyes up, where it has worked so well with him and Moses as they don't tread on eachothers toes. Brown has shown he can take a last tackle kick from time to time, however a knock has been when Moses is off he sort of goes into his shell and lets others dictate the game. Clubs may want to see him take control before going all in on Brown, except for clubs like Canterbury, Warriors, Tigers etc who will be desperate for any star or future star they can get a hold off.

Parramatta should act by November as he is free to negotiate and i would go for it before the World Cup, get him signed until 2025/26. Give him that time to develop more and hopefully become that playmaker like Wighton, who is happy to let a 7 take the team and pop up when needed but can take control too when the game needs them too.

Is everyone confident on Brown staying? Went from people saying JA will be the 6 in 2023 as Brown's form will have him move or take the money on offer, to him being a must sign player. I have been knocking BA in the past but give him credit in that Matto and Brown have both gone from players the club either wanted to move on from or gave them one more year to show something to players that are must haves.

  • Thought I read one source last week claiming to show the price of each club spine. Had Eeels at $2.9m with Brown already around the $800K mark. But, as always, who really knows??

    • Unless the option was a massive upgrade to 800K?

      • Dylans player option was for $750k this year with bonuses for rep honours.

Mitch will be our first million dollar man, I suspect it will take $1.2m to keep him , might take less to stay with a winning club, with Dylan not far behind close to $1million  We will have to pay them a lot as there will be many clubs looking for good halves when they hit the market, and they will be in demand for sure.. Would love to see the captaincy handed over to Mitch as part of his package as well.

  • DB is reportedly on $800k. He's been highly paid all the way along. Parra have shown him that he's very highly valued and have paid for that potential for years. I can't see another club blowing us out of the water with an offer. $800k is elite money already.

    • I am playing it safe as once i mentioned Brown is on 750K and got abused for saying it, so took the less route and still wrong ahahaha.

    • He's been barely worth half of that up until this year , even this season there is no way on Earth he's worthy of that money . When you think of the talent we could've signed it's been a massive failure from the club . He could walk out at the end of this contract and we have wasted a shitload of coin .  Not how you shoud be runnig your R&R if you're looking to maximise your odds of winning a comp .

      • He was offered $700k by the Warriors. Jog on mate.

        • Ha , the Warriors would have to pay 3x someone's worth to get them there . JA could probably get shares in Fiordland national park and a seat on Jacintas government . The fact the Warriors offered him less than what we are reportedly paying tells me exactly what I need to know , Mutts.

          • And maybe a role a in her woke brigade overseas too mate. Mind you a dentist role may be better.

          • The warriors made that offer after his rookie year wiz, they illegally made the offer while he was still under contract and the nrl punished the warriors by hitting them with a wet lettuce leaf. The clubs hand was forced to offer him more than they normally would have because of the warriors approach.
