Dylan Brown Opportunity

If the powers that be at our club see Brad Arthur make the mistake of giving Jake the keys to the side again his contract should be torn up on Tuesday night . We have a million dollar half still taking the field on Saturday night. What an opportunity for us to let it be his team . Give him the responsibility of taking ownership of the result and showing he's an elite half. There isn't too much difference in how a 6 and 7 plays nowadays , but like Canterbury said in switching Burton to 7.. being the number 7 means it's your team and you need to be on the ball.

If BA puts his offspring at 7 and we put a backup half in charge of the side again .. we are doomed . couple his developing NSW Cup standard attack with his abysmal lateral movement in defence and we are in for a world of hurt .

Whether you think Jake has an NRL future or not , 4-6 is not the time. Our million dollar half should be the man this week and at worst it should give him valuable experience in that ownership role to help him going forward . NZ had no hesitation using him as the dominant half and we shouldn't either.

Having said all that we all know tomorrow Jake will be named in the 7, and BA will say 'we just want Dylan to be Dylan .. blah blah' aka pigeon hole him into his left side running role  . I assure you no top coach would do that , this would be an opportunity and frankly him at 7 is our best chance of getting the result in Canberra.

  • Does it really matter what jersey he gets named in?

  • People already trying to insinuate that JA will be running the attack, just incase we lose 😂😂. If we win it'll be because Dylbro did it.

    Give it a rest already.

    • Mate when Jake is in the team he plays 7.

You don't have to look hard to find prior quotes form BA about Jake being the one to steer the team around the park.

He should stay in reggies with Asi at 6 and the bulk of the attack coming from DB, Gutho and a little bit more (including kicking ) from Hodgson. JA doesn't fit what we're trying to do and has been a complete hand break on our attack in most prior opportunities he's been given.

      • He's Luke Kelly - Mark 2

      • When Hughes is out, his replacement comes in number 7. You know what also happens, Munster steps up.

Maybe Dylan should just step up like he should without mitch

      • Steering the team around the park just means talking and kicking. It doesn't mean you get the ball after an offload or a quick play-the-ball.

    • 'Ken oath Wiz.

So over this "JA is a reserve for reserve grade" shit. Get over it. He's the backup half. And plays to that ability.

Call me a BA lover as much as you like simply because I disagree with you. But I'm not. I'm an Eel lover. Try it sometime.

  • BA runs this club Snottie, it's the only thing that makes sense. No one else would've been given a go like BA - longest serving coach at one club in one stint with zero trophies, unless we are counting spoons.

    • Agree 100%. I'm not sure making the 2022 grand final is a good result for us long term as it's made it hard to sack the fool given our board run the joint like a business and are just looking at growth.
Looking at it from an elite sport mindset a coach has never coached this long at one club before winning a comp. Players can only get so far under the same instruction and message. We as fans have heard his shit 1000000x before and after matches got knows how many the players have heard it. Front load efforts , get our start right , chase the collision , we're a power team , kick to corners it's the same message guys are getting in the bush . It helped us get off the bottom but the club and players have evolved and getting out of our comfort zone and looking to go to another level is where we're at .

      • Snottie, that has to be the quote of the year "our board run the joint like a business"

I reckon that would have to rank as the dumbest comment I have ever heard......how dare they run it like a business.

The business is doing fine Snottie, finals last 6/7 years, GF last year, $10m profit to the leagues club, record profits for the football club. Do you think you could run a business that succesfully?

We will always have work to do on the playing field Snottie, but unless you run the business successfully you don't make it to the playing field!!!....... ask some of the other clubs that don't run their team as a business. Do you think that penrith, roosters and rabbits don't run it like a business.

One day you desperates will win a comp and you will have nothing to whinge about.....have you thought what you will do then. I personally went through that after our first one, and after the 3rd and the 4th we stopped running it like a business and rested on our laurels.

Yes, the board has maturing problems but nothing like we did when losing 12 points over cap management and barely surviving as a club. Sacking the fool is always easy, sacking the man is a bit more difficulty i.e. this conversation.
