Watch the link of BA questioning Dylans play and involvement.
How good is this - BA is continuing to show a new set of hangers and some serious backbone. On the back of sacking Waqa, moving Nathan Brown on, Promoting Hands to first grade, Reducing Hodgsons minutes and trusting Cartwright with a starting spot - BA has now publicly called out our wonder kid Dylan Brown. Some of us here feel he is underperforming once again, whilst others think not. I was actually taken back that BA would question Dylan publicly with a serious challenge to get better and get involved.
Im thinking BA has turned a coaching corner this year and with the tap on Guthos shoulder earlier this month with a public statement on attaining an xfactor on the bench, and now another serious tap on Dylans Shoulder, Im seeing some good coaching skills developing.
So whats peoples thoughts on this good or bad calling him out and are we seeing BA growing in his coaching role.

IMO it is more what he is doing during the week. As a half getting paid close to $1m he is basically a director/executive of the team and that is what he should be thinking about and planning for 60 hours a week. He looks like he has given no thought to his games and just goes out there and does what ever BA tells him the game plan is. He should be studyin the opposition and planning throughout the week. He just does not seem imersed in the game
He's been largely applauded non stop from game one with the Eels, rep jerseys and now a long time contract.
I do think, based on his clear talent, he deserved a rev up due to his back seat riding in attack so much this year.
What worries me about it, is his reaction to this rev. Is he mature and professional enough to he take it on board and hit the field as a true force , or, being so young, and so used to applause, does he crack it and regress further into his shell.
I actually do not think so, Brown has never been one to see lose his cool in general. Say it was like Cody Walker to Latrell then yeah they'll lose their cool and carry on one way or the other.
Brown though I doubt will kick stones, either stay as he is or improve.
To answer your question Blue Eel I hope it is a a positive seeing BA publicly criticising one of his players and especially one of his most gifted . Last week I heard him criticise another player ( can't remember his name sorry ) . Looks like things are changing ? . I just hope for CS that BA is not losing the plot through the pressure. Everyone has their limit we know .
I have seen a few segments on the media that talk about Dylan away from game day. He dosnt watch other games, he dosnt watch or study other players. He turns up and lets his talent just be. Im quietly wondering now that we have gone all in on him, for quality $$ and signifcant years, are the coaching staff now expecting more. A more professional athlete and a more professional preperation to get the best out of him and finally unlock that potential he shows glimpses of. Interesting times for sure.
Surely the club has a halves coach or something similar that sits down with our halves through the week as an extra curricular to the rest of the squad and watches a few videos to identify any possible weakness the opponents may have?
If not I'd be very disappointed in the club and the way things are managed.
You would think so John. I think the media segments that I was referring to, talked about tv games etc watching and studying games or players at home etc.
I wouldn't expect any player to sit and watch other matches to be honest.
But I do agree with you in saying he should be doing some form of study on upcoming opponents.
Im seeing a lot of different things this year from BA, and making this public is not his normal trait. Im just wondering if they are now expecting a lot more, on and off the field to get him to the next level. Thats basically it. Im also wondering which way it will go by making it public, spurning him on or pissing him off so to speak.
Hopefully if we make another GF he will prepare differently too. Perhaps that GF failure was a wake up call.
