Dylan Brown as Hooker

Just wondering what 1EEs think of DB as hooker. Not suggesting a change as he is killing it as 5:8 and our best option there. Don't think he should be moved unless we had a better option. But for example in the unlikely event Ethan Sanders or another of our upcoming halves started showing promise as an elite half over the next three years then maybe it would justify considering changing our halves pair. Dylan seems to love playing in the middle and is a great defender. He seems happy not being the dominant play maker most of the time. He would be good at darting out of dummy half. Main issues is his passing off the ground is poor, but with a few years practice that could be improved. Personally can't see DB playing FB or outside back but he may enjoy hooker. Not sure if being hooker would mean we could not utilise his step as much as when he is wider but maybe it would give him more opportunity.

  • No, just no. His great strength is running the ball against a stretched defence.

    • Yeah was worried about that but he is strong and middles often don't have good lateral movement - cook gets lots of opportunities down the middle

      • He's at his best attacking the edges. Would Bellamy move Munster to 9 ?

        • i am not saying DB should move to 9. I am saying he may make a good hooker and if we got a really good half coming  up through the grades then it may be an option. But that half would have to be better than DB and Moses. I do not see Ethan Sanders as better but that may change. Same for Munster. If Bellamy had a better half prospect coming through then moving munster to dummy half could be consisdered but that half would have to be better than Munster to warant it. That is why I was against moving DB to accomadate JA when DB was a better half prospect

    • If anything, centre would really suit him. Great defender and strong one-on-one in attack.

Penisini would make a great hooker. Built low, strong powerful legs out of dummy half.

      • but can he kick

  • No.

  • Nope, fullback when Gutho is past it.

    • Maybe I am blind but I can't see DB as FB. Can't see him organising the defence and not sure what is backing up in attack would be like - does he have the fitness for FB?

Plus he seems to like being at the front and middle in the thick of it

      • Does he have the fitness? He's the second fittest player in the side behind Gutherson.
