Dumb Dumb Selections

Sorry to all of you Sandow haters but HE IS NOT THE PROBLEM! At the moment BA is the biggest problem. Until the last few weeks I have not been that critical of BA but his selections and stubbornness in persevering with poorly performing players is starting to grind my gears.  Lets look at some of his flaws.

  1. Our small forwards and bench means that the forwards cannot dominate for full 80 minutes. By the 50-60 minute mark they start to be dominated by larger packs. Why did BA take so long to bring Moeroa and Pauli back. That would have helped the forwards over the last few weeks and in turn helped Chris perform!
  2. Sticking with Hoppa at fullback when obviously not working.
  3. Picking probably the slowest backline in NRL history against Titans and Tigers, both of which have fast backlines.
  4. Picking Sefa consistently when nobody except him (and Phil) can see what he brings to the team
  5. Not dropping Watmough who has hardly played a decent game yet. Remember, apparently, we are paying this bloke $29k EACH GAME but playing like he is paid $290 each game!
  6. Playing Moeroa when obviously injured.
  7. Apparently picking Kelly for next week. WTF! Kelly did very little and any creativity left to Norman.

I'm sure there are other flaws in BAs makeup but he has to remember the success of the team is linked to his future success. His decisions should be based on achieving team success, the only criteria that determines how good a coach is.

  • One of the selections that has puzzled me is sticking with Fa'aoso. ..
  • Recruiting has beens kills me.
Watmough, Faosso, Wicks and now Scott. No half will be effective with the old has beens forwards we have. Next season we will be saying how disappointing Foran is.
  • Yeah. We should sack the coach again. Look at the great results we've seen by sacking the last 3 and Stuart leaving us.

Here's an idea... Every time we lose we sack our coach. Surely that would build stability and create a positive culture.
    • I don't think anyone on this blog has actually suggested sacking the coach but you have to admit the criticism of him is justified.

  • Dumb blog!
  • Gotta love the armchair critics.

Half the site want Sandow gone and the other want him to stay. So it doesn't matter what BA does people will complain.

People complained about Kelly and yet I though he had a solid game. His kicking was off but if you ask 4020 he says that in Wenty he's a good kicker. Has Sandow played games where his kicking was off? Of course he has.

Robinson wasn't an option because he has an injury. But BA gets blamed because well it's just his fault.

What do you do when your half does something dumb like smash a car and leave the site? Well like it or not you have to show leadership and give him some form of punishment for his actions.

No one on here wanted Sefa, but then he has one good game back at Wenty with Sandow and now people can see they are better that Wenty quality.

People on here bagged BA for playing Moeroa because he was injured, then when he put him back the U20 and Wenty they complained about BA leaving him there when he should be in FG.

I honestly don't think you guys know what you want from BA. You're starting to sound like hysterical school girls chasing after a celebrity knowing full well that you wouldn't know what to do should you catch them.

BA has made some mistakes, then again so have the players and fans. But he has made improvement, blind Freddy can see we are getting better.

The sad thing is reading the death riding of players and the coach during the first half yesterday eg Norman. But then during the second half nothing and by the end of the game people on here had him in the top 3. That's not supporting, that's throwing burly into the water to stir up a feeding frenzy and it worked.

    Summation of yesterday's game.

Before the game: most footy enthusiasts had Warriors easily beating the Eels
1st half: Eels off to a slow start with too many mistakes and risks taken
2nd half: Eels start playing more up tempo footy, attack starts working and Semi makes a couple of clangers. Warriors have limited bench and are tiring. But even so, a debatable error from the ref gets warriors ahead and they win in golden time.
After match: most think the Eels hard done by, and the fans agree that we at least turned up and again they showed their potential.

    End of story.

Maybe Sandow should come back to see how the team would go without Sefa and Sandow in, but Kelly didn't play that badly.

So for all the armchair coaches, BA may be new to FG but given you're on here voicing your opinions and not coaching a team means he's better than you and probably has twice the footy knowledge of any of us.
