drops outs.. time for some serious practice.

A good win today despite some soft errors and  sloppy turnovers in the first half, albeit against a dangerous but not brilliant opposition.

What really stood out for mine, was how ineffective we are at maintaining possession from the short drop out. We also looked ineffective when attempting to execute the short drop out and never contested or out pressure on the opposition. Better sides would have capitalised on that.. momentum and possession will be crucial in the coming weeks.

  • I've been noticing it for a while.

  • The short drop out is definitely in vogue and is usually a 50/50 result.

You're right we need to get better at them.

Cleary is really good at drilling them into touch especially on a dewy surface where it skids.

  • If you are going to have short drop outs you have to compete or otherwise it makes no sense. And we did not compete.

  • We always kick to lane who was easily blocked by the dogs defense.  I think its here to stay  massive advantage and swings momentum

  • We won despite being 100% perfect or being our best performance of the year, but we won and won well that's how a top 8 team should be.

  • I actually reckon the short drop out are ridiculous and stupid

    • Monto, they are not if you execute them properly.

  • Short kickoffs as well..

  • Those kicks have been a game changer. Wonder why teams didn't do it years ago. Yep we certainly need some practise on those

  • Agreed
