Double points next three rounds

We are competing for a finals spot with Warriors, Titans and Cowboys - all of whom we play over the next three weeks - so if we win we don't just get two points we prevent our immediate competition getting the two points. So next three rounds could well determine if we make the finals. Mathematically speaking, to be sure of being in top eight we need to win more games than we lose (wins = loses is possible but relying on F&A and luck). With 24 non-bye rounds we need to win 13 games to be reasonable sure of making the finals - 4 more since we have won 9. With games against Panthers, Storm, Broncos and a full strength Roosters coming up we need to win 4 of the other 4 games to get into the finals (Warriors, Titans, Cowboys and St George) or we will have to rely on winning some games from the harder group of 4..

  • Warriors would take an almighty effort to win. If you listen to the media we are likely to be without Gutho, Moses, Paulo and RCG for origin. Plus Dyl Brown will still be out. You take your starting  halves fullback and props out of any team in the nrl and they should lose.

    • Edwards over Gutho

      Hynes over Moses

      Klemmer over Paulo

      TPJ over RCG.

If any of our players do get picked we need to pull them out.

Our season is far more important than a dead rubber in a mid season Mickey Mouse tournament.

      • Agree 100% A premiership after 36-40 years is far more important than stupid State of Rigged Origin

      • Yes, the club comes first in this situation. Fittler did not pick RCG in the last few SOO's, because those Panther's player did not want him. It is time for him to return serve and hopefully declines it.

      • Talk is Gutho at 14. But RCG wont get in with Jake Trbojevic back, plus they would go with a Saifiti also.

I think Paulo and Moses get picked. Though i actually would not mind seeing Moses not get picked, being greedy.

    • It's okay. Freddy is bound to find some left field selections that won't be us. Probably some more tigers, dragons and bulldogs players. I doubt RCG will be picked at all after previously being blacklisted. Junior has been ineffective at origin and is no guarantee to be chosen. Gutherson I doubt completely, he would be behind tedesco, Edwards and even drinkwater on freddies lucky dip origin selection list. Moses will probably be picked, but Freddy is just as likely to recall Nicho Hynes or someone else.

      • Apparently Spencer Leniu is ahead of RCG for origin.

RCG is way better than Leniu but I am more than happy form him to be wasted in Origin over RCG.

  • This is part of the reason I dislike origin. It's not a true perspective of a teams credentials if they're down on troops due to origin. It's really stupid. So if the Eels miss the finals or just scrape into 7th or 8th spot it could be because of:

    1) NRL's disgraceful draw for the Eels

    2) State of Origin duties depleting the Eels team

    3) Dylan's brain explosion and the 5 Touches

    4) Disgraceful refereeing and bunker decisions

Yet none of it's due to the poor team quality of the Eels

    • No, if we miss the finals there is only one reason, we weren't good enough.

      Period.

      • Agreed I hate the conspiracy bullshit we lost games that we should of won.

That been said with the amount of money invested in comp from gambling alone weakening the comp for origin no longer makes since either freeze the comp for 3 weeks or play origin at seasons end
