Does the club tighten the screws?

I could very well see the club saying to BA he is here for 2023, though do they take from him in terms of what he's had as a staff and put some of their own in? Now I am a firm believer that if you have a coach you let them have their own men in there, if you don't trust them then get rid of them. But Steve Murphy has been there since BA started, he is off contract, Ryan Carr is left over and will stay regardless who is coach, but do the club practically give BA an ultimatum of some sort of giving him 2023 but he takes what is given with like Flanagan as assistant. Not saying Flanagan in particular as he is on the way to GC apparently but as an example.

The club shouldn't take all of the staff from BA but at least bring someone in themselves to keep him on his toes, Murphy has had a good run now time to move on.

With that if the club do that I could see BA refusing and falling on his sword as him and the club part ways. That is the only way I see BA not being here in 2023 by him and the club simply parting ways, it is possible but I think the club did it a little with McGregor and Ennis coming in now need to get BA to hire some decent assistants like a Madge for example.

Weve said in the past BA doesn't hire those types cause perhaps doesn't want undermining or someone to push for his job, we will never know but I think it is well in the clubs right to give this ultimatum after a disappointing year as it looks it will be

  • As far as I'm concerned if Brad Arthur can't win a premiership in 9 years then he never will. He's been here too long. He needs to leave, he knows it, the CEO and Board know it, the players know and the fans know it.

  • Problem is the Club and the Board have even less idea than BA.

This is our best shot at a comp and we're nowhere near where we need to be. Next year is going to be brutal.

    • I gave up on next year already. This year was suppose to be an all in type of year, which I'm no longer confident to believe so

  • The club will probably give him another 2 year extension because stability is the most important thing.

    • ???? Really Wilson, out of allllllll the blogs here you tell me to give it a rest. Again this is not purely a sack BA blog, but we should give him resources that we fell will help us improve as in bringing in a great assistant.

I am a patient blogger, but have thin patience for those who do not understand what the blog is about mainly. I have been a flag barrer for judge til seasons end, simply putting forward the idea that we take Murphy and others away and put in say a Flanagan or a Madge and see how he does with that.

    • To be honest Souths are the very reason BA should be shown the door.  Every game for the past 6 years we have lost by 13+ to the Rabbits.  Every game for 6 years they have played the same game plan against us and for every game for the past 6 years we have not adjusted or changed our patterns.

So as you, I and everyone on this site can see there is a distinct issue with our coaching and it's not just a matter that if our plan A doesn't work then we use plan B because it's obvious that there is no plan B under the tutorlige of BA!

      • And do u say the same for Penrith and Melbourne?

        • Yes I do!

We did not have to adjust our plan during those contests.

But you obviously haven't read what I wrote.  For 6 years Souths haven't had to change their game plan because we have the same game plan every time.

      • This !

not every team can win the comp and BA has done a good job in changing the culture at Parra from where we were when he got here until now.  But it's shit like the above which is another example of him not being the guy to go from where we are now to the next frontier. Every winger we've played we leave absolutely posted . Blake Ferguson came from one of the best defensive teams in history to being a winger who had no idea defensively ? It's the system .

Geogre Jennings let in 5 try's on his wing v Souths one night ...has a few weeks under Todd Peyton and he's a different player . I'm sick and tired of seeing Reed Mahoney being left on the ground at a play the ball but it's not the sole reason for our problems . Our edge is rarely in sync with each other or the inside guys and it's made even worse by playing his inept son. Would love someone in power at the club to pick up on this and show some leadership but they seem to be content with what BA serves up.
