I commented on a post before about Moses and i wonder how much of him being the main captain effects his game? I know it is crazy to say as a professional footballer of his experience, though he has spent his entire Eels career, minus this year and last, with Gutho there as the main leader. Moses is more front and centre with media and certain commitments than ever before. Having say Williams in a co role lessens the burden for Moses moving forward and he is a calmer head.
Yes, many have said just take it off Moses. I disagree for that to be the thing to do. If you take the captaincy off Moses, a few things could follow. Firstly he could react poorly. He could take it as a slight on him, either seen as not good enough or being blamed for their season or not trusted in the role either by staff or his peers. Secondly, the media circus around it, discussing why Ryles made the decision, more focus on Moses and chatter about him and why he lost it. It is uneeded media focus on the club. Adding a co-captain is a simple and easy change. Penrith do it with Yeo and Cleary. It is not uncommon at all.
Now Moses is already a natural leader, his position demands him to be. Though as being the captain, being an emotional player at the same time, sometimes it can add things to your mind that is not needed. He could overthink, think about his appearance, how is he handling himself. Many will scoff at this but it can happen. It seems this year when playing Moses looks distracted. At first, when he came back last year he looked to relish the captaincy tag. He seemed motivated and focused. This year it seems to have effected his game a lot and he needs some assistance.
So Williams or even Hopgood to just take that burden off him with the elements of being the captain of the club, Moses can pick and choose when to deal with certain elements of his captaincy. Could be times where he is in the weeds in the game and Williams takes over talking to the ref. Williams goes to the presser after with Ryles. Williams fronts the press. Make it like it used to be with Mannah as club captain and Gutho was on field captain.
This team, with how young it is, needs a leader like Moses with his experience and honesty. But it also needs a leader like Jack Williams who is calmer, that brother type of feel where if you make a mistake it is more of an element of arm around you and saying "You are better than that, we know you are better, brush it off let's go". With Jarome at the club next year, that helps as well as he is a natural leader who players gravitate towards. That helps Moses in the spine, particularly working with kids like Iongi and Da Silva.
While Moses was off, we saw Williams as captain, led them to two wins. He seemed to get better with the responsibility. What do we think?

Yeah, I've been saying for a while that Williams should be captain, he's done a great job when Moses was out and we played better as a team. He's a natural leader and our best player this year and we're more balanced when Moses focuses on his job.
Really hope we don't let Williams go to November 1 either, that would be a disaster.
Yeah I'm not sure what his market will be considering he is 31 next year. PNG would be the threat but they may have other player now on the radar.
At the end of the day Williams might now try to see what his value is.
Mat Bo i understand what your saying and you maybe right.
But there are aspects that we do not understand that only the internal dynamics of the team and coach can manage.
I do not pretend to understand either so what I am saying is presumptive.....I think that Moses always had a desire to be captain and his subordinance to Gutho and a lessor extent Junior was something he aspired to.....what we cannot be assured of in taking that away, how that will reflect his personal game and his teammates, face it as the halfback he is going to run the game anyway. His decisions as a captain have been pretty good, challenges and tactics wise....its his relationship and body language on the field that raises most of these issues.....what do you thnk Williams would do differently to what he does now...i.e. how is it enhanced? William's can still be a natural leader. Personally I am not a great believer in dual captains, especially in the forwards where they are not always on the field.
All these questions need to be answered inside the coaching and senior players group.....not opinions of what we see.
I hope you understand that team dynamics are never going to be understood by fans.
Personally as a club president iof a first grade cricket club I had 2 guys, both shield cricketer's who wanted to be captain of the team, it was very difficult for outsiders to pick someone without us potentially losing the other, I sorted it out by asking them to make the decision and we as the club will abide by it. i.e. we put the leadership back to them....the rest of the team knowing they decided were happy.
We do not know if these type of dynamic's even exist at Parra.....if it does then the coach has to make a decision, sometimes you can have a leader off the field as well as on it. i.e. Club Captain!
Before the kick for touch that lead to the game winning set, Volkman came over and snapped Mitch out of it, Mitch was fully rattled today, Volkman saved us.
Actually another way of looking at that, I know exactly the incident and Moses actually listening to Volkman was a good and positive sign....without you being on the field you don't know Dynasty....snapped out of it is a long bow!
You seem to have conveniently missed the pass that Moses threw to Ilongi as he positioned himslef away from the field goal attempt.....I think that is the play that Volkman may have suggested......but who knows unless someone out there wants to come forward.
What
Moses got very lucky there . Moses is undeniably a class player , but he is totally off his game by miles. In recent years he gets himself up for Origin and then returns to us a substandard Moses. It's not good enough and it's time the club draws a line in the sand with him. The Moses we made a commitment to was a super professional, top 5 ( top 3 on his day ) halfback . The Moses we are getting is top 8 or 10 halfback this season . We've literally looked a better team mostly in his absence this year. And that's just not good enough for what we bought. He needs to stop sooking and pull his head out of his arse and ask himself if he's really above this team . Cause he ain't playing like it , and if he thinks he is, then he also carries some responsibility to do something about it.
What! (that's for you Dynasty).....Wiz, don''t deny you are probably right in some respects, what his needs are and how to control them are his problem to address.
Where we differ Wiz is the way to go about it, you have created a pretty good diagnosis, your ability to actually cure anything is as subjective as you are as a person.
What has happened to you Wiz and I have said it before, you mixed in circles where you effectively did not make it and this has given you perspectives of absolutism, where as you actually can't ask the question and address the needs.
A good example is your reply response to my blog from Bali, you have no perception in any way to my life and what I do on a holiday....you just come back to that same old response of reinforced negativity.
I will continue to call you out as you commence this new crusade against Ryles.....yes I can see it plainly and the destruction you will cause on this site at least, but your thoughts will migrate to the easily led.
PS I am still waiting for the 12 Lomax's from down Illawarra to come on board, what time does your next flight into Kellyville arrive.
Crusade against Ryles ? How so ? Because I said that he's not as good as Arthur ? Or because I said we should be begging Arthur to return ans take Ryles as his right hand man ?
Do you actually believe for one second I thought this was remotely a possibility ?
If I have a vendetta for Ryles don't you think I'd be mentioning actual possible replacements ?
also , if you remember I always said that if were to remove Arthur we must replace him with a more experienced or proven coach . So it can't really be a vendetta can it ? I challenge you to find me a single comment of mine post appointment where I've slagged Ryles . There are far more anti Ryles posts on here then the minimal criticisms I've made about his inexperience on here . And yet you come and accuse me of driving some political campaign to oust him .
I've actually said quite clearly that removing Ryles now is not an option. Not unless it's to replace him with a Wayne , Ivan , Craig type coach.
So you didn't mention a GO FUND campaign to bring back BA.....hmmm
Wonder who said that?
Subtlety is not one of your strong points Wiz, blind freddie can see through you.....
What your trying to say is there are not 12 Lomax's waiting in the wings and the plane to bring you from Comm bank to Kellyville actually is a 2 wheeler bike that has wings and has a tail attached to it.
Is your new second best friend Mallee also a pilot?
Even Fongy has disowned you, that Italian Silk Jacket, Canolli and a night out with that special girl from Griffith was enough for him to say Wiz can get his own plane......especially when he heard Steve Sharpe was mounting the guns on the back of the bi-plane and that BA was the navigator!
