Does noone have any respect for the Footy Gods anymore?

So I have attempted to remain very, very quiet this week as the game ahead of us tomorrow night will be a tough one. The Bulldogs have been one of the in form teams all year, and while Parramatta’s form has been red hot the past few weeks, we haven’t been in this position in a long time. It is going to be a whole different ball game, with a new team and a new coach, whose preparation will be very different from that of his predecessors. My main gripe this week, is that I am extremely superstitious and believe in the Footy Gods. Other blogs which have gone up, labelling the Dragons as chokers and which demean our notable opposition tomorrow night do nothing but upset the Footy Gods. While Parramatta are favourites, those who think we are Grand Final bound need to take a step back, because we are not there yet. We have a big 80 minutes to get through and if we are cocky and do not show the Bulldogs the respect they deserve, look for the girl crying all the way home on the train. That will be me.That being said it is going to be a wonderful game and I am very excited.P.S. I don’t think Parramatta fans have the right to call any other team ‘chokers’! Look at our past!

  • Haven't we spent the last two months upsetting the footy gods, and continued that by being in the preliminary final given our first two thirds of the season. I think we're all entitled to be over the top because each win is a bonus. If we were to loose, no one should be upset, they should be cheering the boys for they achieved under adversity. Some would say we don't deserve to be where we are so I say soak it all up and enjoy - if we go all the way woohoo and if not it's been a pleasure anyway! It's a win win situation as far as I can see.
    • You misunderstand me!

Parramatta's victories do not upset the Footy Gods and nor does praising your beloved football team. The amount of times I have yelled at my family as they are eating their cereal to 'drop what their eating and get off their seating for Keating', to get ready for the 'Hayne Train' and making ridiculous signs, have been beyond count. We should all be extremely proud of the boys and regardless of the result tomorrow night I will be pleased - despite the disappointment if we lose.

I am just concerned that some are getting a little too ahead of themselves. The Bulldogs are a formidable opposition, Brett Kimmorley has not had such an illustrious career for no reason and the same can be said for other players like Hazem, Andrew Ryan, Luke Patten etc. All I am saying is that they shouldn't be disrespected, or underestimated - or they will make us pay. Similar to how the Eels have made other teams pay over the past 10 weeks for thinking we were of wooden spoon quality.
      • Understandable and sentiments expressed regularly on this site over the last two months - a by product of previous disappointments. I was just saying this year feels different to 2007, 2005 and 2001. It's not an expectation this year it's more of a bonus each week, so it's easier to go over the top cause wherever we finish will end up being just that - a bonus.
  • but it makes us feel good :(
  • It seems the footy gods have got it all figured out already... And the future looks bright, just quietly...
  • yeh i get ya, theres been alot of talk going on.. but you only need to go have a look at the kennel, the doggies' fan's arrogance far outweighs anything we've said on this site.. im sure the footy gods are lookin to square up the dogs.
  • I'm superstitious as well and do observe a few rituals. But Parra haven't been going well for 'a few weeks'. They've played like kings for 10 weeks and that is going to continue tomorrow night. Go Parra!
