We did this in 82,83,84, 85 and won 2 premierships in that year.

Does anyone know the cost of using ANZ?

I know when we took 2 home games away against the Dogs or Souths or Tigers we got reasonable compensation.

This probably would not apply next year, so what is the cost, particularly playing out of town teams and the non away supportive Roosters and Sea Eagles fans?

One problem would be not enough seats for season ticket holders at Belmore. We would only be charged for season tickets at ANZ.

We would need more Sunday afternoon matches if we were to go to Belmore.

  • Kerry i think it might already be done and dusted, we play at ANZ and they pay us to play there, absolutely no chance of any games at Belmore.

    • OK if they pay us to play there, but I wasn't sure of this.

  • Um, no. We all did stuff in the 80s that shouldn't be repeated. This is but one example.
  • At full capacity the Dogs barely make any money from going to Belmore. We'd be losing a lot of money by going there. At ANZ it isn't the best stadium for footy but we should be getting 100k per game for going there and I think if we get over a certain number in attendance we get more.
    • Against some of the out of town teams and Roosters and Manly you won't get many away supporters. It will be alright if we happen to get some Sunday afternoon matches instead of all night games.

  • ANZ will be a disaster. Membership will quite possibly decrease next year because of this year's dramas + games being at ANZ. People hate going there and watching. There's no atmosphere and the seating is far away from the field. The club would have to really do something special to make this work IMO, they'll need to get a lot of extra bus services to ANZ from popular areas (e.g. North West Sydney). If they think people will go the extra mile to get the train they'll be sadly mistaken.

Season ticket holders need far better allocation of seating at ANZ. Level 4 should be offered to members as it's under cover, whereas the lower level is only about 50% covered at best. I can't see membership getting cheaper next year either, but it would probably need to in order to entice some people to return and travel to ANZ on a cold Monday night to watch us play an interstate team....

I'll be renewing mine but very worried about how it will work out for the club unless we have a really good season on the field, can you imagine 8,000 at ANZ for an NRL game like we have had the past few at Parra cause people have given up/weather isn't perfect?

    • If you ask the club you can get your seat changed to be undercover if you would like. I have a mate who sits in the Grandstand at Pirtek but didn't at ANZ. He asked the membership department and they changed it straight away. Every home game we've had at ANZ he's been on level 4.
  • Kerry out of memory that figure was about 1.2 million per year ANZ pays us, that was the figure being thrown around late last year.

    • That reminds me, got to put the wheelie bins out tonight.
