Do we risk another year with Foran?

This is a broken man, real freak situation that has happened and has just exploded. Foran has 1 more year left on his current deal, option for 2 more years. Now I'm not too sure if we have a say on the final 2 years. Obviously that was in place as Foran can decide if he wants to stay depending on Arthur being at the club, but if he has another year like he's had, can we say "No, we do not want you for another 2 years"?

Risking Foran can lead to us not getting Hayne back and if we don't have a say on Foran's 2 year option then we are screwed, as Arthur will definitely still be here and he would want to stay because of that, but we don't want to pay him $1.2 million for this. Yes his performances when he was playing was exceptional, but cant excuse this especially with his salary.

So do we cut our losses? As Foran is definitely acting out of character, and go for Hayne. Or do we persevere and he eventually snaps out of it and gets back on track?

How? He's under contract. Remember Foran has access to some serious cash and some serious lawyers - if we cut him loose on his contract we're going to be buried in so many law suits it'll make our collective heads spin.

We contracted him for 2 years with, as the media reported it, a further 2 years at HIS discretion. Unless he gives up the game, requests to leave or hits his 3 Strikes we don't really have much choice.

  • So are you happy the walk out on a contract?

  • Mate, these guys are footballers, from a working class background with all the foibles that come with it. Add to that money, fame & media exposure & you are bound to have players with "issues". He is still a wonderful football player & it's what he does best, & why BA brought him here. - Like a lot of working class people, some are straight solid, down the middle guys & some can't handle the sudden rush of money & adulation that comes with it. - I for one thought that he was one of the most stable guys that played when we got him from Manly & was happy as Larry when we got him, thought he would be our new "Sterlo", & he still may be. - It seems that Manly knew about these problems as well, but being a protected club in the media eyes, these never came to light. - Yet they still wanted to keep him. - I am not ready to throw him under the bus just yet. - Let's get him recovered from his shoulder surgery & have a full pre-season next year & then we can  judge. - He played 8 or 9 games for us so far & they have all been quality. - What pisses me off, is that all this off field drama is taking away from a wonderful effort from the team & coach so far this year. - Not one game have we dogged it, putting in every single frigging week!! - Tell me honestly you 1 eyeder's, have you gone into any game this year thinking we couldn't win?? - I know I haven't & it's tribute to the guys that are there doing the hard stuff each week. - Beau Scott is my new "I'd turn gay for that guy" bloke. What a buy he has turned out to be!!

    • Foran is far from working class. He comes from money.

  • whats the teams success rate with him playing?

    • 6 wins from 9 games I think.
  • Craig I see your view mate and echo that. I think we need to get off forans back. He's a v good player, and I hope he sorts things. Footy is all these guys have bar the ones who are hand picked by media.
Foran said he needs footy. So we all need to let him come back.
these guys are from working class backgrounds - most anyway. By the way mate I wouldn't turn gay for anyone, but Beau Scott is a legend. V good player and seems like a good bloke. My lady is too good for me to even contemplate that....
  • Yeah, was joking Mitchy re the gay stuff, but he has been the buy of the year for mine. -  Put some steel in us finally & appears to carry it around with him like a badge of honour & I know his team mates respect the crap out of him. - As to our record when Foran's played this year I think it is 8 wins 1 loss. - All quality performances, & I think the loss was when he did his shoulder early on. - I sure stand corrected though. Anyone?

    • I say YES!!!!!!

The fat lady has not sung on Fozzie ...YET

    • Lol, do you actually watch the games?
