Both Guth and French are great team players and I want both to stay at Parra. But both are Fullbacks and both have the talent and dedication to deserve to be playing in their best position in first grade. Is it only fair to let one go? It is fine to let a player wait their turn on on the wings for a few years. But eventually we may need to choose one and let the other one get on with their career.Guth has made himself heart and sole of our team and has always done a great job at fullback and will only get better. Bevan has speed and intuition and will be an elite fullback. We would Bec lucky to have either. Hard to choose but IMO not fair to play either out of position for too long.I have been thinking about this for a while and did not want to post it. But with continued rumours about Guth and Tigers thought I may as well.

  • We can have both, Gutho to centre and French to fullback.
    • Maybe
Which do you think Guth would be better at- centre or fullback?
    • Guths worst position is center. No serious 1st grade team would pick him at center which is exactly why City put him on the wing. Too skimny for center, not explosive enough. Hes best position is fullback then 5/8 then wing then daylight then center

    • Agree I think we will see Gutho at centre. But the time will come when we have to choose because a team out there, example the Tigers, will want to pay him fullback money.
    • I'm sure he rates Gutherson but the salary cap being what it is he can't afford to pay him fullback money unless he intends to play him there. You can bet that on the strength of his recent performances there would be several clubs prepared to pay Gutherson a lot more than he is currently on to play fullback right now. It won't happen this season but the salary cap will force a decision on where Gutherson fits in Arthur's plans.
  • If you want to keep Guth at fullback you put french onto the wing and hoffman jumps into centre at the expense of Auva

    • Agree - except would prefer Aavua at centre than Hoff

Also Bevan can play on the wing for a few years but eventually he needs to be fullback
So who do we want as our long term fullback?
    • avuaa has been performing very very well i dont think you drop him i think what we see when bev comes back and if semi is not convicted is this team

      1 bevan french

      2 semi

      3 jenko

      4 avuaa

      5 hoffman

      6 gutho

      7 norman

BA will pick the team he had the intention of playing at the beginning of the year as good as smith played

    • Auva better then Hoffman
