Do we have enough Mongrel?

Last week the raiders attacked with their mongrels and chewed us up. Do we have that in our team? Does it need to be coached. Does it need to be bought. Until we get more of it I can't see us threatening the title.

    • you must be a Rhodes scholar

  • Attacking anyone with your mongrel shouldn't be allowed. Not in the spirit of the  game.

  • We have none noone not even one

We have a pretty boy club

  • Nathan Brown has mongrel and he'll be huge for us when he returns. We've been going okay without him so far and I can see us surging in the back half of the season when both Browns return.

    • Only one Brown will be back and i don't expect Nathan to hit the ground running hes had a lot of injury setbacks in the last 12 months

  • I think we do.

Last week possession was at 60/40 to the Raiders and alot of it was in our half. We defended well - thier 3 tries were spread pretty evenly through the course of the game. We also had a 56% completion rate compared to their 74%.

Swap the time in possesion and error rate around and we win that game no probs at all - probably by more than what they did.

I don't think you could really say that the Raiders stood over us at any time. I reckon if you look at the pack individually we have a number of blokes who can get down and nasty with pretty much anyone. Junior, Brown, the new and improved Tep - they're not lacking in physicality at all. In the backs Fergo, Sivo, Jenko and Taka are in the same boat.

I don't reckon we have alot of dirty play in us but we are certainly a very physical side when our mind's on the job.

I'd say we need to improve our footy smarts, patience and composure rather than adding any mongrel.

    • Kram only thing I disagree with you on is the mongrel aspect.  Watching the GF rematch last night, to me it was a game that the refs let control get out of hand, it was not mongrel per seh but it was a continuation of the dirt tactics displayed by Canberra last week especially from their Pom players, not that one would not expect that from them.  I believe the aspect of mongrel is being prepared to the old saying of fight fire with fire, but knowing how to use it is the key.

If the opposition wants to mongrel play and get away with it, then our players should be prepared to play the same way but do it within the rules and not with dirt tactics on display last night and with Canberra.

  • That's why we bought Nathan Brown who claims his recovery is ahead of schedule and could be back as soon as round 10.

  • What of seen of stone he is a player like this.

  • We had one but he went to super league

Sorry to complain, but the new site header is doing my head in. Can someone please remove the background from the Ryles image so the border of his image doesn't crop through Moses left arm? My OCD thanks you.

"I'd say Pezet and TDS would be on at least double those amounts. NRL level spine players are very expensive."
