Now i am going to get some criticism for this blog but i stress this is all hypothetical. With Hayne clearly unhappy at the titans and with rumours circling he could walk out, it begs the questions whether we give him one last shot....
Now its been asked a million times and is split amongst the fans but there can be a potential way i can see him positively having an impact at the eels... that is if we bring him back to square one
Not square one as in back home... but square one as in really back to basics for hayne... back to the wing (the position he made is name in at club level back in 06, for state and international in 07)
This seems ridicuolous right??? hold on... in my opinion i think this can be a good option for us, especially since Radradra is leaving next season. That leaves us with bevan and hoffman as the primary wingers which does not give us alot of strength and power for those early set hit ups.
Hayne by playing wing would provide us with that strength and power. Playing wing would also neutralise his game plan, making it more simple to follow. This is something that has troubled hayne since his return as he seems to be doing too much at the wrong time and too little at the right time. At the wing all he will have to do is run hard, return the ball and wait for the right pass.
Additionally, cost is another factor we can consider. The extent to which has damaged his reputation the last two years is insurmountable, he clearly has depreciated the value of his asking price which will make him more affordable to attain as a player.... we could get him as low as maybe 500-600K
Now before i get some massive critcism.. this is all hypothetical... odds are if hayne gets released he will probably end up playing with fuifui in toronto or some super league franchise... he probably would also be releuctant to see himself as anything but a fullback
Thoughts about this??
