Do Eels make the top 8?

If the Eels can win their remaining games ( which is possible) they'll make the 8. If they can win 4 of their remaining games there's still a good chance they can make the 8 if other results go the Eels way. If the Eels had their best 17 on the field all this year I believe they would be currently in the top 4. However, because of some extremely dumb player choices combined with absolutely unnecessary origin selections and a dodgy NRL draw it's made the Eels premiership goals much harder but still possible to redeem. I still believe they will get into the top 8 and make an impact if they have their best 17 on the paddock

  • I completely agree. Hopefully next year with another pre season and a full squad taking the field we would achieve a top 4 finish. We are yet to see how good Joe O and Joey Lussick will perform in this team. I see Joey as a Mitch Kenny type that can take the hits early and Brendan Hands come on after 30 to speed up around the ruck. We have some extremely talented players that if all were firing we would be a top threat. It's a shame this year with everything that's happened.

  • Imo no. We need to upset Brisbane or Penrith while beating the dragons and roosters

  • In all probability we need to win 3 games only to make 8, but I don't think on current form we will do that.

We are absolutely no chance of 4 from 4 so it's pointless even contemplating that, if we win 3 and that  isn't enough to get us through so be it hats off to whoever qualified ahead

  • I want to see it but just can't unfortunately. Brisbane and Penrith are a couple of grades above the rest and we just don't have the cattle this year. Sharks and Raiders looking cooked but Newcastle coming good and good run home.

    • Eels have beaten Penrith this year and the Eels didn't have full squad against broncos

  • Feel we'd have to beat the Broncos, PT. That's the game for me. Win that, confidence will return as will RCG & Sivo and feel we'd beat the Roosters even if not Penrith.

Lose to the Broncos and not sure we'd have the confidence to beat the Panthers or even Roosters, under that do or die pressure.

If we can just make 8th and have our best 17 on the field for the finals, everything changes, I'd back us to beat anyone outside possibly Penrith.

Just have to find a way to beat the Broncs.

    • We have better chance against Penrith with RCG, Sivo and Lane back, compared to Brisbane with none of them available.

      • Brown will be back for broncos game

      • Understand where you're coming from, but I just feel it's more vital to beat the Broncs than Panthers LB. Just my opinion though.

Mainly because I think having to win our last two games while coming off a loss, and against the best team in the comp, at their home, is a steep rise in pressure compared to previous matches V Panthers that we've won.

"I don't believe this hearing Feb12-13 is about compensation but just whether (or not) Parra can continue to stop Lomax joining any NRL team without our permission.
If it expands to other issues it will be dragging out for a year or so."
