I'm fully aware the Eels played against 12 men Penrith side twice and they blew some great opportunities BUT the refereeing tonight by Sutton was absolutely horrendous!
Two of the Penrith tries were both from 'set restarts' one of which was on Penriths 5th tackle and both set restarts were inside the Eels half.
The other try was from a forward pass that even the commentators said was a mile forward!
The Eels received 2 set restarts late in the 2nd half to make up for the 6 that Penrith were given!
Then when the Eels are trying to defend against Penrith near the Penrith try line the referee gives them piggy back penalties to get Penrith out of their half!
On top of that why wasn't the Kelly (almost a try) not a penalty try?
I'm just fed up with ALL this BS referees! I hope Ryles says something as it was again another SHxT show of refereeing by Sutton!

I was fed up with it years ago. You just have to live with it.
The big 2 ones are the Blaize knock on and Edgar forward pass. 2 horrendous calls that led directly to points.
I don't care if we played against 12 men. We are injury plagued and just down on confidence. Playing against a near full strength Penrith team. You can't be missing blatant forward passes like that or knock ons. AND if the ref correctly ruled those as errors then we have more time to attack against 12 men.
Costly errors as always but there was some real fight there and they didn't deserve to lose that. Penrith completed at 98% in that 2nd half as well.
💯
Eels played very well and really should have won tonight. The referee was the big difference in my opinion. He seemed to know when and exactly what time in the game to assist Penrith for a win but also when to help Parra but not to the point of letting them beat Penrith. Even when Penrith were down to 12 men on both occasions you could see the referee sneakily helping Penrith. Why was the first Penrith sin bin players time of 10 minutes reduced when Moses was taking a Penalty shot at goal right on half time? So instead of that Penrith player being out for 10 minutes at the start of the 2nd half he was out for 8 minutes and 30 seconds! Disgraceful
Actually I was wondering that myself. When he was sent to the bin there was like 2 seconds left, but he was back on the field only 9 mins into the 2nd half. It's a joke.
The time that Moses takes kicking and the play after the kick even though the game clock is over the sin bin time still counts that passage was 45seconds to a minute
Should be over when the halftime siren goes like in AFL. I know 90 seconds isn't a great deal of time but it can make a difference on the field.
The rules exist as they are Mallee, you can't reinvent them not withstanding the refereeing lost us the game. Sutton is normally worse than that, we in someways were lucky.......another game we could have won if we had a little more experience......we cannot deny that we are remarkably competitive in lots of games where we have in theory played against much superior teams at near full strength compared to our "patchwork quilt"
I always thought we had a chance if we could hold them in the forwards and our young pack stood up very well, add Hopgood, Junior, Sua and maybe a higher profile middle like a Leniu, and a "ready" Riley Smith and then we can be much better than we think.
Our back's are moderate but remarkably effective off the back of good forward play.
Illongi is not being impactful (not sure why), Luai will be a tremendous differentiator, as he opens up alternatives for Moses.
Our halves let us down. When Penriff was down a man (twice), halves weren't smart enough to play expansive footy. Moses 5th tackle kicks were dreadful. Uncontested bombs and grabbers to no one. He seriously isn't NOT a halfback. Volkman is not NRL standard.
Moses short kicks were off the mark, Volkman did a couple with the right idea, just not good execution......Cleary was given too much time with his short kick's. actually Cleary's long kicks were quiet poor in comparison.
I think our problem is the "jumper's" and the follow through. That one that Moses did that just went over the dead ball line, that was no one putting pressure on the full back to hurry his return. Moses looked around scathingly after that rolled over.
