Perhaps the timing of my below comments is not ideal, considering the level of disappointment felt by all Parra supporters at the moment. But, now that the season is over, I have a yearning to vent myself.

Firstly, I wish to thank and pay homage to those that keep this website and forum alive. To those that provide thoughtful debate and value added content, thank-you. A special thanks goes to Forty20, for his tireless input and running commentary of Wenty games.

Now for my vent.

In regard to the pathetic vitriol that is dished out by the same few, that are truly a blight on the integrity of the 1eyedeel website, I find very disappointing.

Alas, I doubt that my comments will be understood by the uneducated trolls that are given licence and free reign to cowardly snipe at the fine young men, that are the pride of their families, friends and communities alike.... but I shall.

That's right, 'fine young men'. Young men that have dedicated themselves to clean living and a healthy lifestyle. Young men that dedicate themselves to a disciplined training regimen, that most could only dream about with envy. Young men that represent their community with not only brave sporting deeds, but offer endless and selfless support to those less fortunate than themselves. They give freely of their time to attend and fund raise for countless charitable causes, visiting children's hospitals and the like.

Sure their on-field performances are up and down, generally as a result of the fact that they, at times, take the field with illness and injury and like the rest of us have personal and family issues that take an emotional toll.

Yes, they get paid a very handsome remuneration, in comparison to those that toil away for $20 an hour. Yes, it is the supporters of a club and the game in general that enable the player funding, by way of purchasing merchandise and season tickets etc.

Yes, this financial support of the game gives the 'supporter' the right to vent an opinion of all and sundry. Of course that includes venting against individual players.

But, some of the vitriolic abuse directed at individual players on this website is a downright disgrace, perhaps reflecting of the author's lack of education, but more likely reflecting the intolerance and ignorance that infect these troll's daily lives.

In reading TBUR's 'I'm looking for Parramatta supporters for 2015' ... I am not alone in my thoughts on this subject. An interesting reply from HKF, that he had modified his comments, after witnessing boys grow into fine young men that became Parra representatives.

Of course, no player in his right mind would enter into any debates on this forum, thus they have no right of reply. So, cowardly the trolls continue, with unashamed personal abuse, that is not tolerated in society today. I invite you cowardly trolls to attend a fan day and voice your vitriolic comments in person.

Of course not, you pathetic trolls would prefer to hide behind lame alias's and the anonymity of your keyboard, in an effort to feel better about yourself and your hollow life.... shame on you!!!

Rant ended.

Again, to those of you who contribute meaningful, intelligent and insightful Blogs, whether they be supportive or in criticism of the Eels, I look forward to season 2015.

  • So true, no player goes out to put in less than their best. No player out of form selects themselves. The coach doesn't want to lose. Feel free to debate selections, decisions, plays but don't vilify. If we want our forum to have an impact with the club, as evidenced by the membership team communicating with the site, we need to show an element of respect for those that we reportedly support. To say that a certain player is out of form is one thing. To say that they are a useless lump of ---- achieves nothing.
  • Do you know how the internet works Brett???  Anyone still following this team after the last 5 season who wear their hearts on their sleeves who are devastated about the disgraceful soulless efforts are trolls and uneducated???   Sure some of it has been over the top but i think it also shows how pathetic the last two efforts have been and how angry and upset we all are .

Maybe we as fans have had enough????

we deserve a medal for still being here, my friends think i am mad and don't know how i do it or why i bother.

For the record i am hiding behind my own name and am happy to tell anyone my feelings.

    • If you've had enough no one is telling you to stay.

    • Alan, please don't muddy the waters.

I make it very clear that all 'supporters' are entitled to vent their opinion ..... but my view is that if you feel the need to retort to the use of disgraceful personal abuse, particularly from behind an anonymous alias, you deserve to be labeled an uneducated troll.

Mate, no one goes off his head and lets fly with scathing abuse at individual players more than me, when watching from the lounge in the privacy of my home.

But, to let fly with personal abuse, on forums such as 1EE... is poor form. (in my opinion)

      However, feel free to disagree.

    • $20/hour! You lucky lucky barsted.
    • This is educated and funny

    • yeah lets ban everyone who is upset and has an opinion, what a load of crap.

The reason this is such a great place is freedom of speech, it's a great place to vent after a loss.

Instead we should all sit in a room and hold hands and sing how great being medicore is.

    • Typical leftist PC dribble.
I don't like something someone said so let's just ban them.
I'm offended by what you just said so perhaps everyone should be banned. People on here need to take some cement and harden the f up.
  • Brett, nice blog mate. A bit of the Liverpool passion is coming out in that blog. As the great Bill Shankly once said "If you can't support us when we lose or draw then don't support us when we win."

    • I like that statement. But I guess that would be appropriate for Liverpool, because they haven't win in over 20 years.

"Agreed. I won't renew him no matter how well he plays. He was still sketchy yesterday. He is a good impact bench player against tired edges and Moses slipping him balls. "
