Difficult to tell how we are going.

I was just thinking about our season to date and we have already played the Dragons twice, Manly twice and the sharks twice along with the Bulldogs, the cowboys and Melbourne once.So essentially we have spent a good part of the season playing against teams at the very top and at the very bottom of the ladder (I include Melbourne as a top team even though they have been stripped of their points).I think that has made it very hard to gauge how we are going.I look forward to playing teams like Newcastle and the Roosters who I consider to be mid level teams this year. I think only when play these sorts of teams can we properly gauge our form.Just an observation.

  • now that we have the hard teams out of the way its time to shine
    • Yes, now that we have played the best teams, let's beat up on the also-rans! That's what wins grand finals!
  • No beating the also rans doesn't prove anything. But for the average punter it has been hard to follow - we beat manly twice and lost to the sharks twice. We were good enough to beat Melbourne but looked outclassed by St George.

I think we need to play some teams just in or outside of the top eight to see how we are going and whether we can be confident of a top 6 or even a top 4 finish.
  • I think a few games against the top teams toward the end of the season sets us up for the finals.
Playing also rans can be a false indicator of how we are really going.
  • Its simple really,if Parra turn up they can beat anyone and if they dont they can get beat by anyone. Its all about attitude with the Eels,if you watch the difference in intensity between the Melbourne game and the Dragons game its really like chalk and cheese and thats the challenge for Anderson.
  • yeah I agree our attutude is key.

Against St George we tries to play a structured style but as others have pointed out we don't really have the players to achieve a result like that. Against Melbourne we through it around and got the result.
  • *threw* it around even.
  • no ebating the team in the grand final wins you grand finals, beating all the other teams get u there
