Didn't watch the game

I had something on today and was unable to watch the game. Obviously the scoreline tells most of the story, but how'd the boys play? Were we great? Was Manly terrible? Who stepped up?

  • A bit of everything, we won the penalty count and made very few errors which made a massive difference. We ran strong, defended well, even though we lacked line speed most of the game, although this might have been deliberate to help eliminate penalties, and looked reasonably slick with the ball.

  • Good to see. I've been very critical about our woeful attack this year. Good to see the boys rack up a few points.
  • Manly were terrible, absolutely terrible, we pushed up in defence well and pressured them and forced some errors but they also opened us up too rasping. We were lucky with a couple of disallowed tries but looked better in attack as the game went on. We had a heap of penalties too which helped, the footy gods (or betting gods) were definitely on our side today..

    • We did get the rub of the green today but it was about time, we have been bad but man we have copped it tough with the refs.

    • HKF, I agree with your earlier comment, we backed off on line speed today and saved some gas. Held our line better. This led to less errors, had us back on our line, so lessor penalities. This is exactly how Cleary has the Tigers playing and has been Arthur’s biggest mistake. Line speed is not effectual if you’re gassed. Line speed is effective in spurts, when you have the opp team trapped or if you feel you need a good momentum swing. Otherwise, it’s a waste of energy. We’ll done to Kidwell if this is what he bought to today’s game.
Well done to Corey, I absolutely ragged on him yesterday, today I eat humble pie. Corey, one game does not a season make.
      • Both our halves were very good today, certainly helps when your forwards dominate. One bloke behind me at the game kept bagging Norman for not passing every time he had a run, where I was saying good work for taking the line on. I have always had a belief that a good 5/8th gets tackles a lot, it means he is taking the line on which opens up his passing game later on in the game.

  • Hey ETS.. hard to pick man if the mate... matangi , terapo, manu, Gower , Alvaro, Moses , both Jennings , Moses and Corey all had great game..great dummy running from Pritchard.. guthonplayed well...kenny aswell... played with plenty of passion and discipline... thnak fuk I fell good for once
  • Well obviously there's a pattern now and eels team six I strongly advise you to not watch any more games at all, the team needs every advantage they can get. Today's game was the first home game this season that I didn't get there in time for kick off (trackwork!) and therefore I can't be on time for any more games for the same reason.

    • Haha. I've been a season ticket holder for years and attend every game. Gave my ticket to a mates brother. Not sure if I shouldn't attend further games, or he should.
I think you're onto something though mate. I'm a bad omen.
