  • Stevo : Gus Gould said in his Sydney Morning Herald piece the other day that all teams must be deemed Salary Cap compliant by the NRL before they can play any game in the competition.  The Eels played in first round and subsequent rounds, therefore they were deemed salary cap compliant by the NRL. What Gus questioned was how could the NRL`s Integrity unit miss the amount of $500,000, said to be over the salary cap for 2016, by Greenburge? That is a question that should be answered by NRL/Greenburge. $ 500,000 is a lot of money. One or two have speculated that TPA `s dating back to 2013 were lumped onto our 2016 cap, by Greenburge, making it appear to be over the limit. So today's players and fans suffer for something that happened in 2013. If so, why did the NRL not detect that in 2013?

  • Yes, we were, but they have now forced us to include our TPAs on our cap, which is why we are now over
    • But if they had waited 4 or 5 days to approve Chocs payout which they knew was coming we would have been

  • Thanks all, much appreciated. Just wanted to make sure i had my information right when arguing this point with mates etc. I just hope detail of such actually gets published but im not holding my breath. Cheers.
  • Paul Garrard just stated on Ch9 news that we are under the cap, and we were so 2 weeks ago.
    • The last person id be listening to or believing is Paul Garrard, hes one of the fools who got us into this shit.

    • Why wasn't he deregistered also Snake?
    • Yeah heard that and he is of course correct.
Still it doesn't change the fact our board are useless and if we can manage to keep our stars whilst dumping the board then I'm happy.
  • It is extremely dishonest from the NRL/ Greenburg and Weeks to not be transparent on this matter. They have deliberately misled the public. They have been challenged publicly today by a Parramatta director and have heard nothing but crickets from them. Doesn't seem to me that the NRL are very confident in their findings
    • If that's is the case then the club should keep playing as is and challenge all charges and penalties imposed by the NRL at the High Court. This would take months to sort out :)

Let's not forget that Wests Magpies and Souths were kicked out of the NRL for only to win their court cases against the NRL/ARL and be re-admitted. Plenty of egg on ARL/NRL faces.
