Former NRL star Michael Jennings claims he was not afforded a fair trial after a judge awarded his former wife nearly $500,000 for alleged abuse during their marriage as he fights to have the decision overturned on appeal. Mr Jennings’ ex-wife, Kirra Wilden, last year successfully sued the former State of Origin representative in the NSW District Court, alleging he verbally abused and sexually assaulted her throughout their relationship.
She was awarded $490,000 for personal injuries including post-traumatic stress disorder and during the course of civil proceedings last year she alleged he sexually assaulted her on four occasions.
Mr Jennings, 34, has denied he ever sexually assaulted his former wife and has never been charged by police.
NSW District Court Judge David Wilson found in favour of Ms Wilden after accepting her as “an honest and reliable witness”.
However, Mr Jennings on Monday appeared in Sydney’s Court of Appeal, where his lawyers argued that the decision was the result of a legal error which reversed the onus of proof.

He never stood a chance .
Interesting to seeing how disputes like this which are pretty much normal in daily life could be much better resolved by viewing these things in another way. Very complex way of looking at things like this with another lens. I came across this talk by Krishnamurti.I read some of his books when I was in my late teens. Brilliant mind on many topics. "Analysis paralysis" we make everything so complex. .Take the time and think this through .

I am glad he's appealing it; no police conviction and the court judge believed her over him. Good on Jenko; he made a v stupid decision which ended his NRL, but this is a separate issue for me.
Pretty heady stuff Tad, as you know being a spiritist I have a very similar belief system. I understand where he is coming from but I dont think he is a great communicator just the same. The guy doing the interview was not incisive, maybe a bit blown away by his status in a community where much is taken for granted. i.e the basic philosophy of reincarnation.
To have lets say conventional people believe along these lines is not there unless they have some reason to quantify the rationale. i.e. you drew attention to it by Jennings misfortune which may impart in him a reason for more faith, but unless the conventional aspects are understood of the belief system, it will be meaningless.
I believe that the average person is much more drawn to this system of belief if it is driven by "grief and sorrow" of someone's death.
The most important message to come out of this interview was understanding that "death" is a form of "birth".
Get your ahead around that and "spritism" becomes that little more understandable.
Becareful you don't slip into " analysis paralysis" Pops which we do all the time. No one can escape the consciousness we are exposed to and the way we view the world. When seeing this (part one of three.I also have to watch the one on Religion) it has opened up so much more I want to understand. PT 47 has opened up a thinking blog.Great to see
I introduced this mainly about the many issues of conflict and divisiveness as part of the consciousness we are currently conflicted in a big way around a number of issues including how Jennings is being sucked into trying to resolve this.
Their are other ways in thinking about conflict issues. Krishnamurti addresses something very dear to my heart in trying to understand the forces around us which shape the way we think and take on the the consciousness of the power influences around us.Trying to get peace of mind and making our life worth living in harmony with nature should be our goal
"Death is the rebirth of a new consciousness" Yes Pops Thanks for highlighting that.
It's just a too touchy issue. Does it happen? Of course it does, though there are a lot of times where it also is fabricated in order to gain some sort of incentive; BF leaves GF and she tries to get him back, girl has one night stand and is embarrassed people know so claims sexual assault, girl targets sports stars for the keep quiet money that comes from it.
At the end of the day, i might sound really unpopular here, as soon as there is an sexual assault charge the woman is instantly odds on favourite to win the case. There have been instances of late where the tide turns. Jack de Belin case is an odd one as he was not actually found not guilty but still he got to move on from it. Jarryd Hayne is another but was found guilty at first.
That is the world today, where woman and those of colour can claim hate or unfairness and get people to listen. There was a talk show i watched when i was America, they had a lady who was gang raped talk about her experience dealing with etc. They then asked the audience to ask questions or give insight into their own experience. A guy stood up and said he was sexually assaulted by a female boss he used to work for, this led to laughter in the audience and complete disregard from the people running the show, the host took on his question but it was a quick move on subject. That's the world these days.
Jack De Belin was robbed of his life by a skank who thought she'd found her new husband. I don't know him personally , but he's hardly moved on, he may be playing but he's gone from one of the inform up and coming stars to a bloke who'd be lucky to hold a spot in a decent team. I know a few guys and girls who move in his circles . The girls were freinds with her , and they've broken ties with her because she's made an idiot out of them. They all believed her story until holes started showing up in it every time she told it , there was police corruption involved once they started seeing the cracks , the police handed her a copy of the guys statement so she could study it , it's on the official records , the police were repremanded for it. I have had an insight into that event and those involved. He may be a jerk for cheating on his mrs , but he did absalouty nothing illegal that night. They rule that he's not " not guilty " because it shelters the female from being classed as a flat out bullshit artist. Anyone who's read the court transcripts and isn't a flat out moron can see he's innocent.
He also said he never took ban substances
Im aware of men who have been sexually bullied/manipulated by female bosses and when they made official complaints all went in favour of their bosses and they were then branded as trouble makers and life became exceedingly difficult for them so much so they found it difficult to get further promotion or work opportunities.
