It is pleasing to see the results of our Jersey Flegg team. Most of this team will be eligible to play this level again next year. Parramatta played Newcastle in the SG Ball final and just one. Players then from both teams went to play in Jersey Flegg. Newcastle came second last while the eels improved each week and have a real shot at winning the Grand Final. Winning this is critical before lifting these young men to the next level. Down 12 nil early in the Panthers game the Eels came storming back to win 30 20. For many years across all grades we have had a culture of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory. This team seem capable of winning even when the bounce of the ball goes the wrong way. Do not rush them into reserves and first grade unless they are ready to take the winning culture with them. Nathan Cleary only played 1 game Penrith in first grade as a 19 year old so was held back with a number of the players who had with him developed a winning culture.
All the best for these young men for the finals and hopefully a GF victory.

Todays game shows more than ever how important this is. Before these boys are bought up they need to win this next year. So most of the season they should be playing this grade again. It tells me even more that we need to experienced backs to come into the team on 2 year contracts. If they are the right players we can win next year and then with the young players coming through have a chance of actually winning each year by bring through our own players rather than trying to buy from other clubs.
