Departed Eels stars expose underbelly of 'electric' Eels

Finally a positive season preview for us. Praising our backline, which hopefully is set for round 1, though mentioning the losses in attack they say we might lean on the heartbreak in October as motivation moving forward. Seeing Moses and Gutho last Friday followed by them laughing on the bench afterwards shows their calmness and composure coming into the year.

We are set to surprise many i can tell you now, you have feelings, though they are not all right they can be majority of the time. But this is the first season preview i've seen rank us in top 4.

  • I honestly don't see too much lost in the departing players tbh. Ice was just ok towards the backhalf. And I've never really rated Mahoney as anything more than sufficient .

    • Yes agreed especially about Ice . As regarding Reed M. , It was his A1 tacking that caught my attention . Plus his rare side line kick slmost always brilliantly executed .

    • Agree wiz, hopegood will cover papaili, hodgeson will make Mahoney look like Matt Keating. Blake needs to step up or be replaced by dunster

      • Blake is liability . He needs to improve by lots if he's going to keep his spot . Yeah he has a good game in him, but that shit where he drops 20 balls a game is just not on.  BA has a hard on for him for some reason . He needs to rid himself of that under 7s shit or move him on .

        • I really feel Blake would of disappeared last year into reserves if it wasn't for injuries to the young guys. Just had to use him. See what happens this year if all are fit.

  • What's going on ... everyone is so positive... can't have that.

I really don't know enough about the new guys to comment, but the forwards (Hodgson aside) are pretty much unknowns replacing big bodies we've invested in over several years. It will be a bloody good coaching effort to have us in the top 4

    • Hopgood is not unknown.  He was wanted by plenty of clubs due to his strong work ethic, skills and leadership but was stuck behind Yeo.  He was Captain of successful Penrith junior sides and NSW cup player of the year who was outstanding in lower grade Grand final. He will fill the void when RCG goes off as our forward leader and will have people saying ICE and Matata who?

      • Yeh Hopgood looks good... he still needs time to adapt to the punishment the NRL puts on your body through a season. There's some big expectations of a rookie.
