had David Vaelaiki in my shop today, said he had to retire has knee problems, athritis at the age of 30.

after leaving Parra went to England and played with Wigan, came back to play with Manly in 07 and had a season ending injury after 8 games and then the next season played union in europe for about 18mths but then had to retire. Is running a fitness/training centre in Manly with help from one of the churches.

said Parra have to spend some dollars and get a good halfback. Rated Jason Taylor very highly from the season he played at Parra with him in 2001.

A nice bloke, easy to talk to.

Shame he had to retire, but he's always been a good guy, and always very nice.

He had one of the best starts to a game I've ever seen, 2001 Round 1 against penriff, scored 3 tries with only 4 touches of the ball, had a lot of potential but injuries killed his career

2002 wasn't it?

We smashed the Panfer's that day by about 60 and everyone was saying, just hand the premiership to Parra now!!! The 2001 GF loss was just a hiccup, 2002 is Parra's for sure.....

Then it all went pear-shaped.... sounds familiar????!!!!!!!!!!!

No It was 2001, the first game of 2002 was a flogging by the dogs, that was the last game played by the maggot lyon and one of the last for Vaelaiki

It was 2002 I travelled from Tumut for the game,everybody was asking for Johnny Lang's head after the game,Penrith supporters kept ringing 2GB on the radio saying Lang cant coach and should be sacked,Parra season spiralled downwards from there and Lang delivered Penrith a premiership in 2003
