So Kidwell all of a sudden getting a spot with Argentine Rugby honestly did not make me blink an eye. Late last year i wanted both Kidwell and Murphy gone if BA was staying as i felt it was going to be the same old, we needed new voices. McGregor and Ennis coming in sort of calmed me down with accepting them for a further season. Kidwell has done an ok job, his role has been muttled with some saying he did defence, others saying he worked with forwards. Either way he did an OK job to be fair. But was not enough last year, if he was the defence coach he has had some issues of late. If he was forwards coach well cut some slack our forwards weren't too bad last year. But after the year we had last year we needed change next to BA, Kidwell and Murphy needed to go, one is gone.

Now do we think Kidwell was pushed? From what he said in the media release he had thought about this offer for years now, fearing if he does not take it he may lose it. Couple of things and excuse me if i am wrong just assumption is all, but he could have simply taken the job but started as soon as his deal here was done? Granted there is a World Cup in 2023 to prepare for but he would have months with them. If the job has been lingering for years, it would still be on offer at the end of the year i believe. Secondly, the fact he took it now could mean he was pushed out? I know speculating to cause drama but what is a blog site without drama and speculation. Was Kidwell told he would not be extended past 2022 and took it? Plausible. Did himself and BA have a disagreement? well perhaps but had to of been a long serving spat as he couldn't of had an issue with BA then overnight be gone with another job, doesn't work that way. This agreement would have been weeks in advance or even months.

Honestly, it could be as simple as he wanted to take the role before the World Cup and wanted the rest of the year to work with them. And a sidenote, Michael Chieka only got the job this year, so not sure if it was his connection that got Kidwell when he said himself he had been looking at this job for years?

Was it just time for both parties to seek new horizons, was BA looking for something different? was Kidwell just feeling as if he getting stale in the role and wanted to test himself? or could be the club wanted to move Ryan Carr into a new role to keep him or get McGregor into a role to keep him. Who knows until they name his replacement. But is fun speculating.

Anyway, what do we think? Simple Kidwell wanted to take it due to FOMO and BA gave his blessing as BA always would with the type of person he is, or was it time to move in a different direction or trying to keep people in the building elsewhere?

    • Could be as simple as wanting new challenge.

    • Stop it Wilson, it can't be actually as he said it, there must be a conspiracy at play.

        • Like you are doing the head in of some on this site Wilson? hahaha

    • I can assure you kidwell will not be my step dad. I know my mummy.

      • But who's your daddy?

    • it has to be a conspiracy,,,why else would he take up a new challenge. it just doesnt make sense 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • Hes been thinking about it for years but he re-signed with us last offseason...

Sounds like a mutual agreement to me. Add it to the list of things BA shoudve done but is too reactive to move on from. Next up we have selecting a utlity half on the wing in NRL when we have (albiet underdone) wingers available.

"Sanders defence in the halves is actually better than Hands. NSW Cup stats would back this statement up as well. Hands is actually a poor defender in the halves. He is barely cup quality in cup. Hands is an out and out hooker in my opnion."
