  • bring back Gallop

  • Looks like he has payed for the botched tv rights deal.

    • Nah he got sackef because of that call the Wallabies got against Scotland.
    • What botched deal???  It isn't even finished yet.  And we got more FTA then the AFL and didn't need a 6th year to do it.  Looks like the News scum have finally got rid of him. Looks like they will get their Pay TV rights dirt cheap again like they did under that chump Gallop.

  • Not sure about your joy about the TV rights deal there Al, on face value it's not that good of a deal. Fox haven't even come to the party as yet and now hold the whip hand. Channel 9 have the pick of 4 games for free to air under the new deal, do you really think Fox are going to pay obscene amounts of $$ to televise the lesser value games because Channel 9 have 1st right to pick their games.

Time will tell but I'm guessing this deal will go down as a clanger

  • All about the money AFL got 2.5 b we have just under 1 bil. Fox are not going to pay massive money for the scraps plus you kill there Monday night footy. Not to mention clubs wont sign participation agreements for 2018 onwards. No way he quit he was sacked he didn't even talk to 7 or 10 for fta rights. Nine got a bargin.

    • FOX wiithout the NRL are screwed, Netflix is already putting massive pressure on their revenue.  How many people will stick with Fox without the NRL???   I know i won't.  Netflix is $10 a month and there is more programmes on every month.

Jpav looks like you have believed the News smear Campaign to get rid of Smith, of course he talked to 7 and 10. Of course he talked to Fox, anyone who believes any of the rubbish written after the deal was struck with nine are falling for Sloth and co's BS.  Smith had his faults but the TV deal wasn't one of them they never forgave him for getting rid of the first and last rights last time.

      • Netflix ain't interested in sport. At the moment Fox are the only player, Fox will have the NRL no doubt but he gave away Super Saturday and Monday night football and undersold Thursday night footy. You cant do half a tv deal you have to please everyone.

The 1st tv deal he did was great I agree, but not this one.

I know news corp hate him and spin crap so they can get the rights cheap but he only did half a deal and left the scraps for fox. Wouldn't surprise me if News Corp said get rid of him and we will give you a great deal. Rupes is a bitter old prick after all.

        • The deal isn't finished, my point was Netflix are already hurting Fox.  They lose the NRL they are in even more trouble.  Fox had to come to the party or lose more subsribers and more money.  How many people would keep FOX in NSW/QLD with RL???  Looks like that clown Grant blinked and pushed Smith before the deal was done.  Fox will nowget what they want at a much cheaper price.  And the News limited Stools like Slothfield,Wilson and Ritchie have done the job with their BS agenda's.

We will get less now not more.

          • Well I hope we don't get a news cronie. like Gallop. The problem with Smith is that most clubs didn't like he him as he just brushed them so this would of played a part in his downfall as well you would think.
