  • I don't think the culprits will own up here.

  • I am not sure how you would know.

I read they are already talking about a class action. It should be interesting.

    • Optus are legally required to contact everyone that was involved in the breach. People are being contacted, but not all have been yet.

So if you are or have been a customer of Optus since 2017, keep an eye out for an email/SMS.

      • Captain I don't know how true it is but I'm hearing its customers well before 2017 as well.

  • I'm a customer so no doubt.....

  • The best way to protect yourself and stop people from using your ID to obtain loans in your name is to subscribe to Equfax .    if someone tries to use your id to get a loan of obtain any kind of credit where a credit check is needed you get a immediate notification from Equfax telling you your credit file has been checked

    • I just looked this company up Frankie and they have a very bad rating?

      • Equifax themselves had a massive data breach a few years back.

I wouldn't trust them for shit.

        • Saw this in an article, there are other options to Equifax.

          • Contact the three major Australian credit reporting agencies Equifax, Illionand Experian, and obtain a free copy of your credit file
          • Place a ban on your credit file with those agencies — this can stop criminals accessing credit in your name
  • My details were stolen.

I got the email from Optus apologising and telling me all my details were stolen. I stopped being an Optus customer 3 or 4 years ago but they still had all my personal details on file.

Slater & Gordon are looking into launching a class action law suit.
