Dargin

Can I ask why dargin hasn't had a go in first grade yet? I haven't watched to much of him but what I seen on the weekend he looked really impressive, his defence needs some improvement and he is a goal kicker to which helps

  • He's coming along nicely but he's not nrl ready yet. Next stop for him is NSW cup.
  • Similar player to zach docker clay, when he was in our junior system. He's just been shipped off to England by Penrith.

  • Who's Dargin?

  • Because he makes Brad Takaraingi look like Jonathan Thurston.
  • I reckon he was well and truly worth a shot. Young Matt Frawley was an unknown and given a shot at the dogs and now people are saying they should punt Mybe to keep Frawley. Sometimes you just don't know what you have under your nose.
The last kid we promoted was Bevan French.
These days clubs troll through the lower grades looking for future stars and will sign then on a promise to play them in the NRL. A club in bygone days could afford to nurture a kid in the lower grades but not these days when 18 year olds are debuting.
Instead of looking at signing players like Norfoluma for 400k , there's a kid in our under 20s who is his equal and is one of the most naturally balanced runners I've ever seen. PLAY HIM !!!!
is he ready - probably not but is Cortic at the raiders ready at 18 ?????
    Laterell Mitchell? Frawley?????
    You snooze and you lose.
    • Frawley is 23 years old. Dargan 20. few years worth of exp in NSW cup difference there. Still I would have given him a go over Robson in round 3.

  • And for those who say that a player has to completely outshine the opposition in the lower grades to be considered... Sometimes it's the opposite - you surround these players with better NRL players and you suddenly see the hidden skills.
As for Dargan... He played the trials against the sharks and went really well. I can't believe that in the midst of a halves crisis, we didn't give him a go, the kid can obviously play. It was the same when Cornish was never given a go and we went with Gutho.
Cornish was a proven NRL halfback with the raiders and we shunned him.
    Very strange.
    • Signs of a good coach you reckon Fat?
    • Frank I don't know all the facts and I'm not a coach. I'm at the point where I'm probably lobbing too many grenades at BA without knowing the full circumstances and I'm cognisant of this fact. I'm TRYING to temper my criticisms.
Im all for not playing Dargin if we had two competent specialists playing in that role in the top team but we don't.
Any lack of experience - age wise..is tempered by the fact the bloke is a halfback and we don't have those. Trying Gutho was worth the risk but didn't pan out and should have been sorted. Playing Taka there was unforgivable.
    • Totally agree Fathead, going off every one saying he is not ready than French would not be playing now. You never know until they are given a go and as you said he played in the trials and did a good job.
