Hi all and sundry,
I know this has been mentioned and discussed a number of times previously but I thought it important to re-state after last nights match.
After going to the game, being amazed that we had scored points in that first half, let alone be leading by 8, watching the Sharks come back and sting us as the slow reverberating pounding in my head confirmed that we had lost to them again, I bravely tuned in to the 702 ABC post match show. I was reluctant as I did not want to hear my Eels being bagged yet I'm an Eels tragic and kinda want to hear what they were saying.
Anyway, in the midst of this, they interview Ando. As usual, he is up front, articulate, passionate without overstepping and gives a cracker of an interview without holding any punches yet still maintains that calm composure we've all come to know and love. THEN... he is asked if the short turnaround was to blame and this was his response
"No...well yes, it is if you want to be a middle of the road team."
RIght then and there, I knew we have THE best coach in the comp; we may lose the odd game here or there but there is no doubt in my mind that we are on a significant upward trend towards grand final glory. It has been so long since I could remember a coach who was this open and this good when dealing with the media yet does not feel as though he is giving away all the clubs secrets at the same time.
Great stuff Ando!!
