Dane Gagai

The South Sydney Rabbitohs look to set to be without at least one of Adam Reynolds and Dane Gagai next season.

While much of the focus has been squarely on the star halfback, a decision on his future will also have a big say in South Sydney’s hopes of retaining Gagai.

That is according to Channel 9’s Danny Weidler, who revealed on the Big Sports Breakfastthat Gagai has already been offered to the Parramatta Eels.

“I think that if Reynolds is there, the way Souths have explained it to me, there is no Dane Gagai,” he said.

“If he stays, Dane will be elsewhere and there will be a stack of clubs looking at him. He’s been put to Parramatta. Early indications I’ve been getting, Brad Arthur wasn’t that keen on getting him. He won’t come cheap. He is a quality footballer.

  • He looked great on the weekend, but can be pretty average in other games. At top dollar, I'd rather someone who is more consistent

    • Yea. He is a great player but obviously he will want good money. If Penesini is ready for first grade next year, I don't see the point of buying Gagai. We also have Opacic (if he resigns), Blake, Oldfied (if he resigns), Dunster( if he resigns) and now Niukore if necessary who can play centre.

  • If we have extra money, I would rather use it to re-sign Nathan Brown than Dane Gagai. Invest in Penesini and Blake (since he is tied up long term).

  • Have never rated Gagai so it's a pass for me.

    • Why would Fergo be gone? Just a question. I'd certainly offer him a 2 year deal based on his start to the year.  He's back the fergosauras. Best wing combo in the game again for mine, fergo and sivo.

  • It really depends on which Gagai you get ?

    • Origin Gagai at NRL rates would be a bargain. Unfortunately the more likely outcome is NRL Gagai at Origin rates....

      • Good response

  • No thanks

  • Nah. For cheap he'd be ok but not big money. He's not a priority

"I did modern day as 1998 onwards as I didn't see them play, as some here haven't. Where I believe majority of people here have seen all the modern day players play.
Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
