Dan Keir signs for 2025 on a development deal

Parramatta back-rower Dan Keir has re-signed with the Eels for 2025 on a development contract. The back-rower made his debut in 2024 against Melbourne, playing 6 NRL games in his maiden season in the top grade. He offers versitility and experience to the NSW Cup team, adding to our depth for 2025.

I do not mind this, i would have been a bit worried about him on top 30 that we couldn't find anyone better. He was ok in top grade, a goer but could see he might be overmatched in the grade. But on a dev contract, being in NSW Cup and taking his experience from NRL into Cup to help the juniors would be good also.

  • I don't rate him hey

  • He's alright. Making up the numbers. A goer at Cup level and him and Hawkins can sorta be the mainstays there anchoring that team.

  • An ok depth signing but nothing to get excited about.

  • I can't wait for both his brothers Wayne and Joe to join the Eels. Also hearing he has a sister Ann in the NRLW.

  • Hes not 1st grade standard but if he plays again it means we are struggling and in another injury crisis

    • I agree, but he is handy in terms of NSW Cup with helping the younger players through. He can offer some assistance with experience, taking the limited NRL minutes to add to his assistance.

      • My post was more negative then I intended.

Similar to Makatoa not really 1st grade quality but offers alot in the lower grades will hopefully improve aswell and be of service in Cup and dependable in 1st grade if called on

        • I knew what you meant I agreed. He is not up to the standard but he is there if needed to do a job for a week and offers mentorship to younger players.

But a big reason he's making this impact is because a lot of starch has gone out of the game so his energy and enthusiasm comes to the fore…"

"Yea I like Samrani as a 17 rather than a starting backrower. Tuilagi will probably be selected this week with Guymer back on the bench or cup. Latu needs a couple more games in Cup before being a chance of NRL selection I would think."
